they wont talk

Well Alot of custom mods or areas the people in them wont talk to me and it is kind of annoying. Can someone help me I would love to be able to do the quests and what not in these areas.

You need to be more specific. Which mods are we talking about, and what do you mean by "won't talk to you"?

 

I believe he's talking about how custom made NPCs usually don't have any real dialogue options. You talk to them and they say "hi" and your only option is to say "bye" and then they say "see ya" and that's that. He probably just wants modders to put more filler dialogue in for their NPCs.

sorry this answer took too long

I am having problems with any mod that uses the SSC mod I cant remeber names for the mods at the moment and I can not get to them where I am accesing this site. It is two of the companion mods that are giving me problems.

That would more then likely be AR13's Mika Sniper and Loxy38's Jessi companion :) i have them both, as well as making Viktrika based off of Mika. I will tell you this there are a lot of mods that can conflict with them namely any MOD that messes with the "Generic" Dialog quest. I would run any of the ones that run different dialogs in the FO3Edit tool and see if you get any red flags. Other then that i would also say check for updates i do know that All three of them have been updated recently.

Sorry to hijack your post, but I think it is relevant.

 

Would you be able to briefly explain how to use the F03Edit tool to see if there are red flags. And will I be able to pin point what is causing the problem? So I can change MY companion mod?

Here is a quick down and dirty

 

1. Open FO3Edit (duh right)

2. tick the file/files you want to check, and hit ok (i would run all of the ones you actually play cause it may be a different error other then dialog, I have gotten to where i will run them all if it finds a problem i will run it seperate to see if it is an embedded problem with the MOD itself)

3. First thing to look for on the right hand side is any error terminating the Load before ............. if it stops then what ever mod it hits the error on is causing a problem...not nessicarily THE problem, so in order to continue you will have to figure out why it stopped the load.

4. If it gets all the way through, then the fun part is next; Expand each of the sub-entries in each of the MODS, if you get a RED text then there is an error if you click on the red error you can see on the right side in the view tab All of the MODS that use that particular entry.

5 once you find a problem then you are going to have to be careful cause you cant just delete something causing an error you can corrupt the file....I have seen a few where the error was REQUIRED in order to get the mod to work (explain that one to me)

6 if you get stuck on any of these steps send me a PM and we will try to get you straighted out

 

 

Another tool that is useful but the lists they have need some work is the Mod Sorter. I load it then go through each mod to figure out which are causeing problems, readjust certain files reload the FO3Edit.....so on and so on, gets a bit tedious and mind numbing at times especially when your running 150+ MODS >.<

 

Edit: It really is quite simle when you know what your doing, but alas i am a poor teacher :|

Well actully thoes mods work perfectly and I hav eno problems with them. What I was having a problem was is the campanion mods that use the SSC to be able to hire them. I don;t knwo they feel very dry though and if you tell Sasha to stay and make her self feel at home then she walks way from you and you have to go find her again. Also I think I killed the mod because I told her to stay there and all she did was stand guard. WHen I tried to talk to her again I could not get her to move all I would get is the "Campanion recuit." over and over again and she still wont move.

my bad i misread it thought you saidd the companions that DONt use hehe >.<, but i would do same thing run FO3Edit with your load order and see what errors pop up on either SCC or the companion

Oh shoot thats right I had an error when installing the SSC mod THANKS A TON!

I shall check it when I get home (noob question) FO3Edit is the GECK or a different progam all together?
