Need help identifying specific texture id's through Texmod

Hi guys,

I've been mucking around with modding games for my own use for probably 3-4 years now (nothing fancy, just basic retex's and tweaks, no scripting or modelling or any of the hi-tech stuff) and finally decided that a couple of my efforts were worth sharing. I have published 2 mods for XCOM EU (both Texmod retex's)

Being totally OCD I noticed that my Rank Insignia retex doesn't apply the new badges to the Promotion/Perks menu. I ran Texmod in logging mode and managed to ID and extract the alphas for the icons, but there appears to be a secondary image as well. I can overlay my icons but the default ones are still showing through in the background. If anyone can ID and extract these your help would be most appreciated (and of course full credit will be given)

Alpha textures are:

0x62AB64F0
0x8E79D475
0x70CB661B
0xEF16F8D8
0x743B1C77
0x8F3262B8
0x38C8B1B2

Thanks in advance

:)

This is an area in which I am completely unfamiliar, but am quite intrigued.

It's my understanding that the Texmod allows swapping of textures, but it also allows for swapping of the other 2D imagery?

This could be a possible way to get new perk icons for display.

Also, would it be possible to re-texture aliens using this mod? If it is, does such a re-texture have to apply to all aliens, or could it be selectively applied to only certain aliens? This could be a way to differentiate different type of "upgrades" of the basic aliens.

Ponders ...

Sounds like a cool idea... the mind boggles :) I would guess it's possible to reskin, but as to inserting multiple textures for "upgraded aliens" I couldn't tell you, I'm not certain how the textures are applied to the models.. that's getting into the more technical side, and my brain runs away screaming like a little girl if I even begin to contemplate looking at that side of things :)

It seems there's no easy way of identifying the rank icons used in the perk tree... *sadface* The texture files I extracted appear to be simply a black square with alpha channels of the icons... I can change the alpha channels to my icons and they display beautifully, unfortunately the default icons are still visible underneath... gah!!! Even overlaying my custom icons over the black square on these textures results in the same thing... my beautiful icons appearing with the default ones underneath. I might have to shelve this idea for now until I have more time to poke and prod...
