2 simple questions.

I'm almost done with my mod, but I have a few problems to fix. The first one is, I'm sure, quite simple. Some of the doors I've placed seem to be opened by default, while others are closed by default. I would like every door to stay closed until the player opens them.

Second, I'm looking for a good tutorial on how to create friendly npcs. I want to place a protectron that the player can talk to, but I haven't found a good guide on how to do that.

Thanks for your help.

I *may* be able to answer your first question. This is what I do.

Once you place the door in the gameworld, double click on it & gave it a unique name. then it'll give you an option ( On the first screen that you get once you double click on the door to edit it ) to make the AI ignore it. Not quite sure the exact name, but take a look and you'll see what I mean. Also make sure that the option to have the door open by default is NOT checked. You could also *lock* the door or make it openable only with a key.

Sorry if that didn't really answer your question.

As for the first question: double-click the door or right-click it in the Cell View window and choose Edit. The door's Edit Window should have several check-boxes as the bottom, including one called "Open By Default". Uncheck it to have the door start off closed.

I'm looking into the second question.

Here are a couple GECK Wiki tutorials about NPCs:

I think making your new NPC "Unaggressive" will prevent it from attacking the player. You might want to look at a pre-made friendly robot like the one standing outside Megaton (Deputy Weld?) and duplicate it, then alter the copy to your specifications. Hope this helps.
