Tutorial request

I have been looking around and haven't really found what im looking for. what i want to do is learn how to add effects to weapons shaders particles w/e they may be called. An example is the Tesla armor with the electricity i would love to figure that out and implement maybe smoke or something to a sword or a gun. If anyone could point me to a tutorial or make one on this i would be extremely grateful.

thanks in advance.

:ninja: :thanks:

the way the tesla armor works is that the armor itself calls a form which contains extra pieces of armor, one of those extra pieces (the electricity) is a mesh with an animated texture on it. if you look in the geck at the tesla armor there is a field (i think its called bipedmodellist) that will reference the formlist that contains all the extra pieces (sparks, backpack etc). also take a look at the flame suit that someone uploaded here.

im not sure if you can call pieces through formlists for weapons (i dont have the geck handy atm) but if not, you should be able to attach it with a node the same way the muzzle flashes are attached or possibly by combining two meshes together in nifskope. im no expert on the subject, but i was wrestling with different ways to get smoke particles coming off of a cigarette model, (as a piece of armor) which i was eventually able to figure out by deconstructing the tesla suit.

hope that helps point you in the right direction.

which effect are you trying to attach to the sword itself? is it one of the pre-existing effects? and is it a shader effect or a nif itself? i still havent had a chance to look at the geck, but did you notice if there was anything along the lines of "bipedmodellist" under the weapons form.

naw never seen anything like that unless im messing with armor section. i was going to try to do fire and ice theme i'm not sure if it matters but the mesh for the dagger is all one piece unlike the tesla armor that has the full suit with separate sections which some of those have the fx in it. oh and it would have to be pre existing i have no clue how to make them let alone use them :P .

so i guess you would need to combine the swords mesh with the effects mesh within nifskope, i was having a lot of trouble getting that to work myself, but, i know ive seen a tutorial around on making a flaming sword in oblivion and i cant imagine the process has change that much... ill take a look around and see if i can find it, but maybe check this article out for the time being, theres a section about billboard nodes regarding things like flames on torches etc.

and maybe take a look at this mod, it might shed some light on how its done

that burn fist is exactly what im trying to do on a smaller scale and from the looks of it all the effects were done in nifskope which i have no fricking clue lol. I haven't been able to find a specific tutorial on doing that.

that article is good too but i just wish there were more vid tutorials because I'm more of a visual learner so if any1 could make this http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index...3;#Introduction into a vid tutorial and fallout related would be awesome

you could use this tutorial

http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php/Creating_A_Custom_Weapon

and use its steps to import your sword into the shishkebabs nif, and replace its sword mesh with your own, then it would still have its flame mesh which you could resize to fit your blade.

and heres that old one from oblivion i was thinking of:
