I closed a Gate, it left a red light

Hi,

in the screenshot below there's an Oblivion Gate I just closed. I have reloaded and reclosed it many times but that red light would always remain.

This is the 2nd gate that does it - all others I closed (not that many, really) have turned off completely.

I don't know whether this is a problem I should worry about, just making sure. But it's a graphical glitch I would like to get rid of. Can a script detect and eliminate that red light effect?

Thanks in advance.

I took a look at the UESP and TESwiki, and unfortunately, neither mentioned that problem. It's actually happened to me too, but the problem appears all the time, rather than with certain gates. I always assumed it was normal.

Then again, I used to run hundreds of mods alongside Oblivion. Are you running Vanilla Oblivion? Mods could be the problem, though I was never really sure.

One last thing I would suggest, is to open up the console (~) and select wherever the red glow is (of course, save before doing this), and then type "disable". If you disable the wrong thing, just "enable" it again. I don't believe you can disable light sources, but I think it's worth a try.

Its not a bug, its a feature, Yeah is is supposed to leave a diffuse fiery glow around the closed gate, and it stays there permenantly, if you want to get rid of them, look up the

Dousing the Flames

mod which will eliminate the fires and red glow around closed gates when you complete the main questline.

@ Woggsy:

No form ID comes up when trying to click-select the glow.

As for my mods, I mostly use texture replacers. The "proper" mods are tiny and just a few (a handful, in fact) and they add missing functionality like de-nocking arrows, calling the horse, letting me delete learned spells... and a couple more I don't remember (can't access my gaming computer right now).

@ TheRomans:

Haha -- If it's a feature, then, I got the bug the other way around. The vast majority of Gates I closed was shut completely, leaving no lighting or other effect. Guess I'll keep it that way since my game isn't exploding.

Thanks for the help guys
