Model/texture Help

I'm working on a mod (have been for some time) that is pretty comprehensive and includes many aspects you would find in Skyrim,etc.

I was wondering if anyone that has the expertise would be interested in helping.

One thing I could use help with is modifying textures/models to make raw resources. Gold Ingots/ore, Steel Ingots/ore, etc.

I know how to use nifskope (a bit) but don't know how to change the texture of the gold ingot to resemble steel and so on. Also, I need to find a good standard model to use for ores and so on (salt pile, iron, copper, etc.)

Any help scripting, etc. would also be greatly appreciated!!

This tutorial shows how to do some quick-ish recolors that can come out looking pretty good. I only say "quick-ish" because depending on the textures it can take some time to do the selections but really it's not bad.

Many thanks.... I tinkered and played with it a bit.. And though it's not the best I came out with 10 or so varying ingots (metal) and ore types (I used a baseball model - it seemed like the best generic item for ore.... only problem, they roll around when you drop them).
