AurianaValoria1
Apparently it's a lot harder than it looks. :P Basically, I'm trying to make one of Badmagic's human heads (67) override a half-elf head (01), but it looks like simple file-renaming isn't working. I get a headless character in-game. It only affects a half-elf head, so I must have done something right. :P Now I just need it to appear. ;D EDIT: And MDB cloner doesn't seem to help. Tchos
Simple renaming doesn't work for the models, so you're on the right track with MDB Cloner. For the missing head, try looking for a human head .gr2 file, and rename it to match the half-elf head you're replacing. Simple renaming is fine for .gr2 files. AurianaValoria1
Do I need to rename the texture files with MDB cloner as well? Or just the model? EDIT: Tried copying a human skeleton gr2 file and renaming it to match the head, still headless. The model in the MDB cloner points to the right textures, I've got a renamed gr2 that matches the head, the head model name matches a half-elf one in order to replace it...I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, here. Tchos
Well, to answer the first question, the textures can be named whatever you want, as long as the model has those names listed in it (visible in MDB Cloner). It's just easier to organise textures together with their models if they have the same names, but it's not required. I'm not as experienced with head replacements as I am in other areas. Maybe the gr2 needs to be a half-elf one, and not a human one? Did the Badmagic mod come with a gr2 by any chance?
AurianaValoria1
It did not come with gr2s at all. Which confuses me, because with the situation I'm in, you'd think they would need them. EDIT: Just tried a half elf gr2, still headless Edited July 1, 2013 by AurianaValoria1
Tchos
Is it possible that the ones you copied aren't from vanilla heads? I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but just throwing some more ideas out. Badmagic's heads are retextured vanilla heads rather than new models like Xaltar's heads. I saw that another head pack contains vanilla head gr2s that might work: I tried copying over gr2 files from another head pack - "NPC heads" - and it apparently fixed the warped head prob.If recall reading gr2 file contain "skeleton" structure for heads, and they replaced in that role 2da files.I don't know if any gr2 file will do - I simply took the first file from the group I needed, human, elf, etc, and suitably renamed it. AurianaValoria1
I copied the gr2's directly from the lod_merged zip file that came with the game.
Tchos
Well, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas on that.
AurianaValoria1
I have the Plastic Surgery Headpack updated version (without 2das) and I noticed that the tiefling head model had been copied to use with the human and half-elf races. They have gr2s with them, but these heads are added on rather than replacers.
Tchos
Try putting it in a different head slot? Different number, that is. Maybe some kind of conflict? Are there other heads?
