Biohazard186
Or in this case I suppose I should say 'fixing'. There's a certain vanilla quest that, as far as I can tell, has been documented as broken since the launch of Skyrim and I'd like to try my hand at fixing it. That said, I have no idea what to do with quests and I don't want to break it further. This particular quest is broken in that the quest giver doesn't actually give it to the player. I've gone into the CK and verified that the quest does indeed exist, it's just missing some player dialogue and, upon further review, quest aliases and objectives. That's not a problem, with a little imagination I've sure I can come up with a decent script and I've verified that all the people/items the quest refers to already exist in the world. But as far as I know that wont fix the underlying problem of the quest giver not giving the quest. Would this be fixed by inputting the player dialogue? Or is there some other way that quests are given that might be causing the break, such as a script? An answer to that question would be most appreciated. Biohazard186
Okay, so I've decided to just follow Bethesda's tutorial on the subject (somewhat ironic in my mind) and I've hit a snag. I finished part three of the tutorial which covers dialogue. However, it doesn't work. In the tutorial you're creating everything from scratch so you're adding dialogue to a brand new NPC. But since I'm fixing a vanilla quest I'm adding dialogue to an existing NPC, only the new dialogue option is not appearing in the list and I'm not sure what I did wrong. At the end of this part of the tutorial the dialogue option should be there but it's not. Is there something special I need to do to add dialogue to vanilla NPC's? itstrypp
This might sound stupid, since I am not all that familiar with quest making, but what would happen if you made a clone of the NPC (same attributes, except made from scratch) and then gave the clone the quest line and replaced the vanilla npc with the clone? Technically an entirely new NPC so... *shrugs*
Biohazard186
I would consider it if it weren't for the fact this is one of those NPC's. He's a trainer, and a merchant, and essential, and possibly a few other things I can't think of. Edited July 3, 2013 by Biohazard186

itstrypp
Well, I wish you luck. But as for him being ALL those things, would it really be that hard to recreate him? Or more so just a pain in the rear?
