Robok
Oblivion comes natively with a music player that accepts any MP3 files that are put into its music folder, that's awesome and doesn't require anything else on the user's part to make it work. It also classifies music according to the cell 'type' and plays specific music at specific cells in order to give them the proper atmosphere, plays combat music when you're in combat, and so on. Now we all know that, but what is the problem? How the music toggles between the different types and how it is interrupted and not really resumed. I'll list the following points in which I'm sure I'm not the only one to have come across:The most occurring case is going into a house in the wilderness that has the "town" music set, then going out, this results in the music to change to "town" music and then to "explore" music as you go out, regardless of how much time you're staying in said cell.An another case is when you're travelling on your horse, listening to your favourite explore music that puts you in the mood, then suddenly you pass a few trolls, music changes to "battle" music for like 3 seconds then changes to explore, except it doesn't resume on what you were listening to :(You're in some ruins and the atmosphere is all creepy and whatnot, suddenly battle music kicks in and throws the atmosphere right out of the window  You're in the mood for battle and you're in a fight with some Dremora bastards, you kill them only to find out that the next room full of them hadn't noticed you yet and the battle music turns off until they do :pinch:I personally find it highly irritating in the above mentioned cases and I'm surprised that no one has yet made an attempt at making a mod for this. Anyhow, here are my suggestions for a Music Player-oriented mod: Make a music player that allows the player to choose which type of music he'd like to listen to and if at allI'm not entirely sure if it's possible to modify the way the native music player works, but it would definitely be awesome to be able to choose what type of music you want to listen to whenever you want and not being constrained by the area or state you're in
titipoko
You're absolutely right in all your critique points. Although there IS a music overhaul mod, but it doesn't work too well imho  The most effective way keeping the allround atmosphere is to disable battle music. On the other hand it would feel strange to fight the battle of your life, accompanied by a calm, peaceful explore-track  I guess the player itself is hardcoded, so it's quite difficult to change that feature. Nonetheless I would appreciate an uninterrupted music-experience aswell
Birrii
You're kind of right, honestly. But those critics that I think MUST be changed is the first critic and the 2.
Robok
This is me thinking out loud of how said music player might function, but someone could be kind enough to provide additional information about this matter. I think that if someone could manage to 'force' the type of cell (ergo type of music) on every cell momentarily then this could be achieved. Of course there's always the solution to build up a music player from the ground up and disable the music from Oblivion and allow it to be played from said music player, but I'm not really sure about how compatible that would be with custom music if at all.
