Neizd87
Hello I have tried over a hundread times instaling my mod list in corresct order, but it's always the same...the game crashes in random places (especially when playing outside). Tried to reinstall the game, playing without some of the mods but there is still no change. I am using (OBMM) and Oblivion Script Extender v0016, and I have oblivion updated with patch 1.2.0416. After the time I had to reinstall the game again, I've decided it's time to ask for help someone with more experdience than myself. My load order is like this: Oblivion.esmOscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.esmCyrodillUpgradeResourcePack.esmTamriellTravellers.esmNatural_Habitat_by_Max_Tael.espNatural_Vegetation_by_Max_Tael.espNatural_Water_by_Max_Tael.espNatural_Weather_by_Max_Tael.espIWR-Windows.espBeautifullPeople.espHarvest[Flora].espDLCHorseArmor.espDLCOrrery.espDLCMehrunesRazor.espDLCVileLair.espHarvest[Flora] - DLCVileLair.espDLCSpellTomes.espDLCThievesDen.espDLCFrostcrag.espHarvest[Flora] - DLCFrostcrag.espReal Lava 1.3.espMorrowindBooks.espLiving Economy - Items.espLiving Economy.espza_bankmod.espRenGuardOverhaul.espReneersTrainingMod.espOscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.espTamrielTravellerAdvScript.espTamrielTravellers.espTamrielTravellersItemsNPC.espTamrielTravellers4OOO.espDLCShiveringIsles.espHarvest[Flora] - Shivering Isles.espShiveringIsleTravellers.espRenGuardOverhaulShiveringIsles.espKnights.espThe Lost Spires.espMalevolent.espbartholm.espOrigin of the Mages Guild.espKvathAftermath.espRomancingAhnassi.espxulAncientRedwoods.espxulAncientYews.espxulAriusCreek.espxulPatch_AY_AC.espxulChorrolHinterland.espxulCloudtopMountains.espxulColovianHighlands_EV.espxulImperialIsle.espxulBeachesOfCyrodillLostCoast.espxulLushWoodlands.espxulRiverEthe.espxulStendarrValley.espxulTheHeath.espxulRollingHills_EV.esp The mods I'am using are: Banks of CyrodillBartholm v5.0Beautifull People v2.7Cyrodill Upgrade Resource PackDarkUid_DarN_156_OMOD versionHarvest Flora v3.0 (in OOO)Illuminaton Within Revived v0.9.2Kvath Avtermatch v7.3Real Lava v1.3Living Economy v3.70The Lost Spires v14Malevolent v1.0Malevolent v1.02 PatchMorrowind BooksNatural Environments v2.1.3Origin Of The Mages Guild v6OOO v1.33ReneersGuardOverhaul v1.79ReneersTrainingMod v0.91Romancing Ahnassi v0.95Tamriel Travellers v1.38Unique Landscapes Compilation v1.3.2 Please help me. bben46
Crashes are a part of the Oblivion experience. It's the game's way of telling you that you need to take a break. There will always be some crashes, all we can do is minimize them. Save often, it will keep the frustration level down. You don't say how often you are crashing, whether it is a freeze, black screen, CTD or something else. Or if you crash on attempting a certain action. If your crashes are no more than once every 2 hours, consider yourself lucky. If every ten minutes or less - not good. There are some things outside of the game that can cause crashes. Oblivion does not get along with many other programs. Anything running in the background can cause a crash. Especially a program that likes to call home, such as an antivirus program that updates without warning, or an instant messaging program. Start by disabling everything that accesses the internet when you play. that includes the Vonage, Skype, IM, xfire and anything that calls in or out. Many programs use a auto update feature - such as HP printers (how often does your printer driver need updating?)MS auto update can cause crashes. Then look for programs that run in the background, they are stealing time from the game and if they don't give control back quick enough - crash. MS indexing service, antivirus progs that scan everything in the background, Auto defrag programs, Scheduling programs all steal cycles from the game. Any of these can cause crashes. A good indication that it is an external program is if it happens at a regular interval, say precisely every 10 minutes. When I play, I disconnect from the internet and turn off all Antivirus, anti spyware, internet programs, scheduling programs and any background processes I can. And I still have a few crashes. One that I caught was an HP printer update that tried to connect to the internet every 10 minutes even when the internet was disconnected and the scheduling program was supposed to be off. Evidently, HP thinks their updates should take precedence over whatever you are doing at the time. I had to make a change at the registry level to fix it. Since then, HP has changed their 'call home' program so you can set it to call only once a month instead of every day. After you have cut down the crashes caused by external stuff, start looking at your mods. You probably won't be able to get rid of all of them, but you can minimize them. Neizd87
But the problem is, I always disconect Internet from my PC, and turn of all of the programs when I'am playing any game, so nothing will interfere with game...learned that after playing The Elder Scrolls 3. When playing the only thing that works is game, so that must be something with mods The game crashes are random. They occur after 10 - 50 minutes of playing in random places of the game (even when the character is just running or walking), and then the game quits with error. My guess is that it could be something with one of the graphic mod, but I've been trying to find it for about two months.
bben46
Have you tried Windom Earle_s Oblivion Crash Prevention System? It is not really a mod, it's a dll file so you must read the read me on how to install it. It's still experimental and he has been posting updates almost every day. He is getting a lot of good ratings on this one. http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=22282 To cut down on the frustration, save a lot - I have over 2000 saves with various characters, so don't worry about too many saves. Neizd87
Big thanks for helping out. I'll give it a try, and then write about results :)
Khettienna
Also pay attention to where you are when you crash. Often if two mods are colliding, you won't crash until you char is actually near the collision point. Of course it's not always mods. For example, I used to crash about 2/3 of every time I ran up a specific ramp in Skingrad. Helps if you jot them down when it happens.
Suilebhain
One question - I notice you are using Ren Guard Overhaul and Ren Guard Overhaul SI. Doesn't the SI version also cover the core guards? If so, then perhaps duplications like this may be causing excessive crashing because they are both talking to the same part of the program. Just a guess....
xXEliXx
try using BOSS, It's a program which automatically places mods in the right order, at least to some degree. It' can't be 100% trusted but it helps.http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=20516
Neizd87
bben46: Windom Earle_s Oblivion Crash Prevention System helped to solve some of the problems, and the game didn't crash so much. But after some time I forund what was wrong with my mods list so I changed it. Khettienna: The game always crashed when my character was near water (When going into the river or out of it). Suilebhain: Thx for the Advice althrough I'm not using those mod :) The less mods the better chance of playing the game and finaly finish it. xXEliXx: I'll try using it as soon as possible :D It looks like very helpful program Ok, and now for the funny part...I found all the mods that were causing problems and decided to change the list of mods I'm using...the problem is, that now Oblivion won't start...when i start the game i see the first two seconds of movie intro with sound and it kicks me out of the game with error. This is now something with my installation, because I've tried reinstalling the game 3 times and it still happens (Even when I'am not using any mods). The mods that I'am using right now (or would be using if the game would start) are: Oblivion.esmAWS-core.esmTIE.espDLCHorseArmor.espIWR-Windows.espKnights.espDLCShiveringIsles.espAWS.ShiveringIsles.espRomancingAhnassi.espOrigin of the Mages Guild.esp I know why something like that happens...the problem is I don't know how to fix it. It started like this: I tried using Wyre Bash, but after some time I decided I don't like using it, so I've deleted it, reinstalled the game and then the crashes started. I've noticed that now, when I try to install Oblivion there is no Meshes folder in my Oblivion Data directory. Something happende with folders when I installed Wyre Bash, and now it's happening even when I don't have Wyre Bash. Is it possible that Wyre Bash is still on my computer, and is changing Oblivion data folder, when I reinstall the game? Sometimes I think that my computer has his own mind and hates me for no reason...
