SkoomaBoy
Sorry for the small french talk, guys! Just want to say amazing work! May I ask which games you ported some of your models from? My thanks! Well there's a M&B Warband's keep, a piece of wall from Chivalry and the rest of the ported assets are from The Witcher II, which assets are free to use by anyone. Is it too much to ask how you port models into skyrim? I would love to try it myself. I have a basic understanding of Nifskope, 3ds max etc. How do you change the file types into .nif? Thanks! I suggest you take a look into some tutorials you'd easily find around here. For exporting assets, the point is mostly about finding some decompressor (openbrf for Warband is an example) made to extract them from a specific game, turning them into .3ds or .obj, and then converting them into .nif files via 3DS Max. EDIT: They're alot of specific tweaking in Nifskope right after exporting .nif files, it requires a good lot of patience learning these things, took me a few weeks being able to get a fully operational and properly set up model into Skyrim. Gauthie
Just a small look of what i'd call Home-made Tessellation. This is not Parallax , which relies on optical illusion allowing height simulation from certain angles. Here the 3D information is fully translated directly on the model, using an optimized sculpted model (made from displacement maps). The model has LOD levels from fully sculpted (up to 3k faces) to completly flat, reducing the performance hit considerably. You'll notice the huge difference with parallax on the third screenshot. http://nsa33.casimages.com/img/2013/11/04/131104094939216597.jpghttp://nsa34.casimages.com/img/2013/11/04/131104095034718977.jpghttp://nsa34.casimages.com/img/2013/11/04/131104095100425881.jpghttp://nsa33.casimages.com/img/2013/11/04/131104095139571344.jpg Edited November 4, 2013 by Gauthie
Matth85
good god, what a waste of polygons...There is no reason to have anything but a normal map on stuff like that. You will not notice the difference unless studying it. Not to count that for every polygon you spend on things like that, you must take from something else. Other than that, and the weird shapes of some stones, it looks good.
