"All Items Can Be Sold" Modlet

Hi,

I'm new to modding xcom, and was wondering how the hell you install this mod. Can anyone give some tips please?

In short, this is not a mod for someone "new to modding XCOM".

 

First of all, note that this modlet was originally created for EU patch 4. So you need to be aware it will only work with that version of the game. Addresses would need to be changed for later patch levels, or EW.

 

Second, it was later incorporated into "Long War", so that would be the preferred way to gain the functionality. As it combines perks and items in a way not originally designed by Firaxis, it is not a trivial change and evolved over time. As you can see from the wiki entry, it has not been specifically addressed in a long while.

 

Third, "All Items Can Be Sold" (AICBS) is a mod to a mod: "Additional Items Mod" (AIM). Of the recommended tools for installing AIM, two (ToolBoks and Resource Hacker) are either no longer available or no longer recommended for novices. It requires hand editing large blocks of hex code, including adding completely new sections (which is non-trivial). Once you get AIM installed and working, then you have to modify it with the hex code in the AICBS mod. This could be adapted to work with PatcherGUI, but Amineri is too busy with Long War to get around to it as yet.
