It will then play the intro video after i choose new game and when its done (or when i skip it) it just goes blank and exits with the typical windows alert saying ''Oblivio has stopped working send/not send error report blah blah'' can anyone help me please???? Were you able to get Oblivion to start with everything set at minimum? Go into Options on the boot screen and again at the game start screen and crank everything down as far as it will go.

I think you have this laptop:

Acer Aspire 7520-5757 Laptop Computer - AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-55 1.8GHz, 802.11b/g Wireless, 1GB DDR2, 160GB HDD, DL DVDRW, 17" WXGA+, Webcam, Windows Vista Home Premium

It looks to me like there is no option to upgrade the video. You could add more ram to improve general performance. You could use a total of 2 or 4 GB of RAM. You're starving Vista with only 1 GB of RAM. If you even want to play older games like Morrowind, get more RAM!

That will never be a gaming laptop though. You could still play older games though. Have you ever played Morrowind? It's a great game but not as demanding as Oblivion.

Besides getting more RAM, anything that reduces the demands on the operating system (OS) will improve game performance. I'm using Windows XP rather than Vista so I don't know a lot about Vista. On XP, I would do a clean boot each time before playing Oblivion. I would also work on improving the performance of the OS by turning off unneeded services. There are many guides and tutorials on the web if you need details.
