Request: Zelda Reorchestrated Sound replacement

I would like someone to make a sound replacement mod using the music from the site, http://www.zreomusic.com/ .

I do know of a Zelda sound replacement mod out there, but some of the music is extremely low quality and not all the music

have been replaced with Zelda tunes. I really don't care what songs are used for the various locations and events of Skyrim, as

long as at least 2 tracks are from OOT and Majora's Mask, I'm good.

Remember to give credit to the site when making it.

Thanks very much in advance!

It would be nice if it was that easy - Just giving credit does not lift the copyright restrictions - uploading music, even as part of a mod is a form of publishing and distributing copyrighted materials without permission.

Nexus does NOT allow any copyrighted material - such as copyrighted music from another game without explicit permission from the owner of the copyright. If you can get some written release, then you can use the music in a mod.

If you want different music, please request music that is in the public domain - Not protected by copyright laws because either the author has allowed the copyright to expire, or it was already public domain when the last extension was enacted, or that has been approved by the copyright holder to be either freely distributed or allowed in mods.

You can thank the Disney corporation for forcing copyright out to 75 years to protect their cartoon mouse. That means that anything (movies, books, music) made after 1938 is still copyrighted.

Thanks for the clearfication, though I do have a question: Do fan remixes count under all that? The Zelda music I was asking for were all remixed and nintendo has yet to go after that site as well as the several others out there. Doesn't remixed music count as fanart in a way to be used freely with the artist permission (Not nintendo, but the person that made the remix itself)?

If it's still a no for the mod request, are there any easy to use tools specifically to make this music mod?

Creation kit confuses me greatly...

im pretty sure fan remixes dont count as those are user-created tracks and thus the one who made them can decide if he wants to release/spread it or not. i could also remake the main theme for zelda with a program and just change one beat and it would be my own creation. so as long as its not 100% the same it should be legal .

That's the thing though, I know of several people getting into trouble for making remixes here in the US for changing just a beat. It's still using a copyrighted song. Copyright laws are very finicky when it comes to terminology. Remixes you're still using sounds and assets from the original song. That original song is copyrighted. It's why a lot of people who do remixes/cover songs on Youtube, or in this case ZREO, don't release their tracks with any form of payment. They would be circumventing the copyright and their properties thereof (mainly money) and can still go after them if they so wish it or see it even if there's no money being exchanged (Except for royalty fees). Even if it's a mod for Skyrim, it's porting another game's assets (and a song I think would still be considered an asset as they're copyrighted to the game) into Skyrim. Which it's not just the mod author that could get into trouble, it's also the site that hosts it for allowing it to be up and available.

Edit: The only way I've seen music legally being sold that are covers (especially parodies from authors like The Key of Awesome) are people who are actively seeking the content creator's blessing. If you don't have it, your 'version' is still their version. Copyright terminology is very clear about this.

I just did a few simple searches and there were things like Mario sounds and Zelda weapons being hosted on the Nexus. Super Skyrim Bros is a very popular mod with several copyright assets being hosted on here too. If what you're saying is true, that copyright material is a huge no-no here...then why are those mods hosted here and continue to be hosted?

I'm not intentionally trolling or anything malicious, all I want is to get an improved Zelda music mod for skyrim.

"Can I use your music in my videos, games, or projects?

Sure! But there are a few rules. For non-commercial use, we only ask two things. Attribution in the credits or description, as well as a clickable link to our website (if at all possible). If you would like to use our music for commercial purposes, please contact the ZREO Team for more information. "

This is a blurb from their own site and ZREO seems fine with people using their music for Non-commercial use. Like I mentioned before, there are already several mods that use copyright assests such as music, sound, assests, and likenesses. At the very least, my request uses fan-made remixes, not songs ripped from the game(s) itself. If there are any easy methods of replacing the music in skyrim (preferably a simple program like the NPC editor), let me know. If anyone does plan on making this mod, just give credit to ZREO. If anyone does want to make the mod but wants to make it private, feel free to PM me the mod with a download link. I have no intention of passing it on myself or making it public.

Thanks in advance.

Weapons aren't directly ported from game to game, or rather it's not allowed either. Most of the weapons you see are made custom using the mod author's vision of said weapon through programs such as Blender and Nifskope. As for sound EFFECTS, I can see how they could use them if they're royalty free, but the songs that you're suggesting are not. If the sounds aren't royalty free they're in breach of the ToS here as well as in breach of copyright unless they have permission or made sounds that sound similar, but are not the same thing. Sound effect copyrights are a completely different paradigm than music. Either way... From what I understand of the ToS of the Nexus, it's a big no no. ZREO is reorchestration of the original tracks. Meaning that the only thing that is different, is the instruments used. It's not royalty free. Their 'if you would like to use our music' is also in breach of copyright to Nintendo unless they have been given the rights to it. Which if they're not showing it on their site, I wouldn't trust it to be honest. Furthermore if there are mods that are using assets without permission, the moderators can't see every mod that's uploaded to the Nexus at an instant and see everything contained. It's up to us to help point these mods out that circumvent their ToS. While it's not required or an obligation, it does make their jobs here a whole lot easier. Plus with a moderator already having spoken on the issue, I'd take their word over ZREO's. It's not just the modder's reputation on the line, but the Nexus as well.

Edited for further clarification.

Alright thanks.

I'll just look to make it myself then.
