norusdog
so I made my own posters to replace the default ones found out in wasteland. But they're perfectly crisp, clear, not a scratch or blemish on em. I of course want to make them look more like the default ones I replaced. So question for those more "artistically inclined." what's a good way to mimic sun-bleaching of the posters? I've tried putting the color balance yellish..then tried lightening it up to try and simulated the fade...it's ok I guess..but needs tweaking..and how's a good way to make "rips" in the posters? or shave the edges? thanks for any help. Wintermut3
To weather posters in GIMP I would look at the available filters. You could simulate a rip with the use of the 'select by color' to grab a chunk of the edge of the poster and deleting it, then fuzz the edges *slightly*. To mimic bleeching I'd throw an overlay on top of the entire image, using a light yellow layer on top of the baseline set to "overlay" and playing with the transparency until it looks right. You could also use any color overlay with the "burn" layer option to simulate sun bleeching. To get the most realistic result a blue/white overlay set to burn would give a nice sun-bleeched effect. There are also script-fu scripts out there for sepia-tone that you can download, those may help.
