Use of 1stPerson textures in the place of normal low-res textures...

Is there a detrimental effect in using high-res 1stPerson textures in the place of the normally low-res textures used on "world" models?

 

Basically, should I bother going through the time to make shrunk-down copies of any custom retextures, or is just having the havok model utilize the same TextureSet work fine? (Would it hurt compatability with the broad spectrum of players, because I took and easy way out and saved time and a few kb on the filesize? Or is it just best to have everything up to identical specs as the vanilla install, where it comes to this?)
