Subasean
Anyone have any interest in adding the classic .223 Pistol from F1 and F2? I'm a pretty good max modeller but I'm ass-deep in other projects, (one I'm doing for extra cred for my Astronautical Engineering degree in particular is killing me) but have never modeled anything for F3 so I have no idea what acceptable poly-counts would be The only strong guidline I would have is that it have the hunting rifle stats, the .44's firing rate and accept the 5.56mm rounds. (5.56 is mil-spec .223 Remington for those who wonder) Anyway, isometric 2D rpgs are kinda vague on operation  so it would make it a difficult weapon to come up with scripting rules for. Challenges include: It's based on Harrison Ford's gun from Blade Runner, which was a .44 mag mated to a .223 Steyr rifle receiver, keeping the dual trigger from the Steyr, with a revolver cylinder AND a magazine feed with two barrels. So for the reload animation would it be mag-fed or cylinder drop out? Two barrels and two triggers?! I know squat about scripting but I doubt F3's scripting capabilities include alt-fire. In the movie, though he didn't use it, they condensed two weapons from Philip K. %&$!'s novel, a laser weapon and a .38 revolver into the one gun, hence the two barrels and double trigger. However, in Fallout it was just a fancy .223 rifle with a cool icon and slightly altered stats. So would anyone willing to attempt this keep to the Fallout source, or try to make it the weapon the Fallount gun was based on? Myself, I'd love to see the alt-fire configuration attempted. The only way a gun that shoots like a .44 and laser pistol would be any cooler were if it played a Hendrix solo with each trigger pull and was ON FIRE. Now that I've thought of all this, I realize just how difficult a project this would be, (probably why my search for ".223 Pistol" in the forums yielded the results of the sound of wind rushing through the wasteland) but I think it would be an awesome project. I'd be willing to bang out a few proto-models if there's any scriptors masochistic enough to try an do the darned thing justice. Aesthetically, with it's ugly oversized proportions and wood furniture, I KNOW this thing would feel right at home in this setting, and it's such an iconic weapon from both movie history AND the Fallout games, I can't imagine a better weapon to try and make work. Texturers, Scritpors, Modelers, sound off below if this sounds like a good idea or impossible without seriously compromising. In case anyone's wondering this partcular brain fart was inspired by the 14mm pistol mod. DLed it AND the Deagle today and was amazed. Only mods I'm using so far in my main game are the classic weapon mods and graphic upgrades. I did DL the M4 to fart around with just 'cuz. :thanks:
