Vortex Inquiry: Reinstalling Fallout 4

I have uninstalled all my mods on Vortex due to constant crashing. Prior to this, I have deleted all previous saves and profiles in Fallout 4. The intention was to start a new game and reinstall the mods. Unfortunately with all the mods uninstalled Fallout 4 starts up up until about the Bethesda screen shows up and constantly crashes to desktop. I verified game files with Steam and even tried to start the game from the Steam hub to no avail.

I understand I will need to reinstall the game. My question is, is can my mods be saved on Vortex when doing this? I know this is probably a case of wishfull thinking but I want to make sure I ask about it before I go through with it the hard way.I have not that much experience with Vortex and I am hoping that I won't lose all the mods I have downloaded while I reinstall Fallout 4.

If not, are there more efficient ways to save your mods other than writing them all down and revisiting the Nexus to redownload all of them again?

Thank you.

removing mods doesnt delete the archive folders - UNLESS - you specify to delete the archive as part of removing the mod. if you haven't done that then your archives are safe. if you have done that, then you will need to redownload them.

in terms of your crashing after removing everything, I suspect you've got a few loose files laying around in your data directory. i'd suggest the following;

1. go to your fallout directory and delete the data folder and its contents.

2. get steam to validate your files - this will recreate a new, empty data folder.

3. start the game - it should start up brand new.

Once you are at this point - you are good to start modding again.

This was very helpful and as you noted, I had a few plugins still installed that was causing the crashing. The game starts fine now. Thanks a lot!
