If you installed in the default location

C:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data

The mod manager goes in the Oblivion directory. The meshes folder will be in the data directory. It should be created the first time you need it. But you can create yourself if you want. If it is already there, the mod will use it. If not, it should create it.

What are your computer specifications? If you don't know, the make and model we can look up the specs with that.

Also, you don't need the mod manager if you don't have any mods yet. Wait until you have got the vanilla game running before adding anything.

The GOTY includes some mods, don't even install them until you see if it works. Just install Oblivion, start it and accept the video settings it starts with. After you get it to start up, you can go in and increase the settings at any time. With all except the most expensive video cards, you will not be able to run at maximum and it will be a trade off between function and beauty.

Thank you but i still am having problems...

I'm currently trying to run it without SI or Knights yet it still refuses to work no matter what quality I have it set on. :wallbash:

Also, my computer should work on the middle quality but the game refuses to even start.

A small black box appears in the upper left corner and then it comes up with error statement.

Thank you.

P.S. :wallbash:

Requires Nvidia 6800 series or higher. That card is from 2002. If the rest of your system is the same age, you need to do some serious upgrading before Oblivion will run very well if at all.

You might want to try Oldblivion http://www.oldblivion.com/

They have some info on getting older hardware to work on Oblivion, The right drivers etc, also info on what doesn't work.

If you're unsure if your system will be able to handle Oblivion or not, feel free to test your hardware at the System Requirements Lab and see if you meet the requirements. Be sure to pick The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion in the gamelist. There has been reports of instability - so run at your own risk, and the processor value may be inaccurate. So feel free to ask in this forum if you have any questions, while posting your full specs.

Thanks to Freddo for posting these specs originally. Had to close that topic to make room for new pinned topics.
