Repopulating Vault 101 (Quest Idea)

After seeing a lot of different mods on nexus. I thought to my self I should make a quest and the quest idea I came up with was this.

 

Lets say your wondering the waste (Megaton,Rivetcity,etc.) and suddenly Amata comes running up to you scared alone and with a terrible story to tell you. Now this is where it can go two ways (Way 1 You killed the Overseer & Way 2 being you didn't) She tells you that shortly after you left her dad went crazy (or shortly after he's death the system activated on it's own) and activated the Vault's fail safe. Killing every one inside. She way barely able to escape and came looking for you. She doesn't know what to do.

(Now this is the quest really begins) 1. she could travel with you as a companion. 2. She could move into you house (Megaton,Tenpenny) and live with you. Or 3.Together you both decide to repopulate Vault 101, not alone of course. You'll need to find others to move in as well (nameless npc / non-quest essential npc) But first you must get the Vault 101 override codes from the Vault-tech Headquarters. Once you have gotten the codes the you have to clean up the Vault and salvage as much gear and supplies you can. (basically going in to the messed up Vault and killing any thing that might have worked it's way in. radroaches,Radscorpions,Bloatflies,etc and gather all the spare gear, then the game will fast forward 3 weeks. As if you had just keep on waiting & sleeping.) Now comes the fun part, the people. You'll need to find doctors, scientists, security, vendors, and the men, women and children to fill up your new Vault 101. Then it's up to you if you wish to say as the new overseer with Amata at your side, or to head back out to find your father.

1. Met up with Amata.

(Outside Rivit City, Megaton, etc.)

A. Take Amata as a companion.

2. Vault-Tec master code.

A. Go to the Vault-Tec Building.

B. Find the Vault-0 bunker deep underground.

C. Fight the Vault-0 robotic defenses.

D. Find the master terminal.

E. Obtain the override code.

F. Head back to Vault-101

G. Unlock Vault-101

3. Cleaning house.

A. Clear every level of the vault of any and all wasteland beast.

4. Scavenging.

A. Find and repair Andy .

5. Rebuilding.

A. Fix the core-reactor.

A1. Find the Vault-101 proto-type Radiation suit.

A2. Go to Megaton to retrieve the needed isotope from the nuke.

*A2. Find the D.C. plane crash site and extract the needed isotope from the plane.

A3. Repair the reactor.

B. Repairing the water purifier.

B1. Find Vault- X (Vault has not been selected yet.)

B2. Fight the Raider inhabitants.

B3. Salvage the need Parts*

(Parts list not selected yet.)

B4. Repair the water purifier.

6. Deus ex Machina.

A. Travel to the RoboCo. Headquarters.

B. Find the RoboCo. Reprogramming module

C. Return the module to Andy.

D. Tag 5 wasteland robots for Andy to remote reprogramming.

7. Manpower

A. Find a doctor.

*A1. Gather needed supplies.

A2. Find a nurse.

B. Find a technician.

*B1. Gather need supplies.

(Supply list not yet determined.)

B2. Find 3 Lab assistants.

C. Find a Security Chief.

*B1. Gather need supplies.

D. Find 3 Vendors.*

E. Find 5 Adult Npcs to move in.

8. Enclave Assault.

A. Defend the Vault.

B. Find the tratior.

*C. Defuse the new Tunnel snake rebellion.

(This can end two ways, Kill all of the tunnel snakes or Negotiate with them.)

9. The new Overseer.

A. Making the choice.

A1. Stay on as the Overseer. (Ends game.)

A2. Become the vault’s ambassador to the Waste. (Free play with access to Vault-101.)

A3. Turn over the vault to Amata and leave. (Free play but lose access to Vault-101.)

 

That is all of it for now.

Their well be skill & Karma requirements for most of the major events in this story-line.

I'll be needing help making new clothing for this quest.

This is a short list of what I have come up with so far, this aren't just re-textures but need to be non-replacing items.

1. 101 Bartender outfit = Merc Grunt outfit

(White shirt with 101 in yellow on the back, blue pants with yellow lines going down the sides, and black boots.)

2.101 Waitress outfit = Merc Charmer outfit.

(Blue Shirt with a yellow 101 on the back, blue skirt trimmed in yellow, and black or white boots.)

(Found in the 101 cigar lounge.)

3. 101 smoking jacket/suit. = Tenpenny's suit

(Blue suit with a yellow 101 on the back, yellow 101 on the back.)

(Found in the cigar lounge.)

4. Vault-tec nano suit = Recon suit+helm

(Blue base suit, yellow metal parts.)

(Found in the Vault under the Vault-tec building.)

5. Vault-tec power armor = power armor

(Blue power armor, with the armor plating trimmed in yellow.)

(Found in a wreaked Vault-tec transport site.)

6. 101 Overseer Uniform = Captain Autumns Coat

(Blue over coat, vault 101 style under suit, and black boots.)

(Found in a hidden floor safe in the overseers room)

7. 101 sleepwear = sexy sleepwear

(blue with yellow trim and a yellow 101 on the back.)

(Found in ever dresser in 101.)

8. 101 combat armor = combat armor

(101 vault under suit with black combat armor plates over top marked with both a yellow 101 on the back and a small 101 on the breast plate.)

9. Vault-tec goggles = biker goggles

(blue and yellow themed goggles.)

(found both in the Vault-tec building and in 101)

10. 101 med mask = medical mask

(blue variant)

(Found in 101 sick bay.)

11. Blue headwrap = headwrap.

(blue variant)

(Found in 101)

12.Blue bandanna = bandanna

(blue variant)

(found in 101)

 

That the list of re-textures I need, Do any of you think you could help?

I'm not asking for you to all of them but if you can make any of them it well help greatly.

 

These is the basics ideas, that I have gotten together so far more will be added as it is developed.

 

Now this is where I am asking for help I need modding help textures ,meshes, scripting all of it.

Sadly my computer had handle the awesomeness of th G.E.C.K ,it can barely hand Fallout3.

I'm going to be contacting some modders who's older mods have Sparked this idea and see if they are interested.

 

Any Ideas are welcomed & please discuss.

I think having the old vault be "poisoned with lethal doses of radiation" would prevent any need to overwrite the existing files. Then you have the freedom to build a new vault to vault to clean out... Make it the "Vault Tech: The Executive Vault" - that's where all the big shots went, so it's got ROOM and lots of perks - and lots of real jerks to either convince to move out or "convince" to stop breathing.

does this happen before or after the "Trouble on the homefront" quest

 

I think this is after.

 

But, I like the idea. But, do not have the same ending has in "Trouble on the homefront".

Ok So we have One Scripter onboaded as soon as They are done with their curent project.

Gotta keep the ball rolling.

I'm going to do a massavie clean up on my computer and try re-installing G.E.C.K again hopefully it well work this time so I can start working on the quest as well.

Story wise it would make more sense to happen afterward.. OK that and it would give players a smug moment to throw it back in her face for kicking you out after getting her the "promotion". :devil:

I think how we're going to work it is that the player will be promoted after the completion of the project purity mission and then they would have to choose between the normal "trouble on the home front" or to play out the new and Very Long Quest that we are working on.
