themodder2000
So I think my problem is pretty straightforward, I run quite a few high-res texture mods on my game, and even with an RTX 2080 I have been experiencing significant lag-spikes, particularly on the road between Riverwood and Whiterun. I'm pretty sure the problem isn't to blame on one particular mod, but I have noticed Illustrious Whiterun tends to cause the worse lag...which makes sense given the size of it's textures. What happens however, is strange. What happens is the game continues to run fine, but sounds won't play, models won't load, and NPCs won't react, basically the entire world stops for up to several seconds before running fine again...Presumably because something's loading. What's strange is that I've only been recently experiencing this problem...I've run the game fine with pretty much all the same mods up until recently...Either that or I just simply haven't noticed the bug until now. Regardless, I'm asking for any advice that can help improve my game's performance with minimal sacrifice in visual quality.
themodder2000
Another problem I should probably have mentioned...And this is one that actually does affect gameplay, is that when firing a bow during one of these lag spikes, it can take up to a second or more for the arrow to actually spawn. themodder2000
Some more issues I've noticed is that in racemenu it can take several seconds to switch sex or race, there are places where grass spawns after you've entered the area, and of course there's still the issues mentioned above. I don't believe any particular mod is responsible for this, because I get these lag spikes whenever I have any hd or 4k textures of any sort, and while some mods cause greater issues than others, every mod I have installed seems to contribute. What's strange is that these are all mods that I had been running fine on my current hardware and settings until recently. I've tried resetting my INI's, using BethINI, reinstalling the game, and resetting my PC. At this point I believe it could be ENBseries, but that seems unlikely.
