Major glitch!!

I've tried everything I can think of to fix this, but nothing seems to matter.

 

I'm getting a crash every time I try to enter the main gates to Megaton. I'll get the load screen, but when it's just about to show the first view of the town, BANG!, it crashes. I can't make heads or tales of the hex-heavy crash dump it gives me. The problem started at the same time as FOMM started acting up.

Timeslip told me to get rid of a temp folder... I couldn't even FIND the FOMM temp folder! (I looked in all my temp folders) I even tried getting rid of my ArchiveInvalidation, and starting over from scratch.

I HAD over 150 mods running once with no problems before, which makes this is even MORE frustrating! :wallbash:

 

I've tried using FOMS... o_O That didn't work. Tried re-installing FO3, even tried a reg scanner. None of them worked. The only things I haven't tried is running no mods, or running one at a time (not enough time in the day).

 

Can someone, anyone tell me whats going on? PLEASE?!?

well... i had a problem like this. it happened no matter what i did. all of the sudden i got an idea.

Start deselecting mods you just recently added. start with the last on you did, then move on. it worked for me!

Unfortunately, that is the only way to figure this out. Do what Cotton suggested or just disable all of them and add one or two at a time until you find the culprit.

OK. I get to MMM, remove it, and suddenly the game won't even start... :wallbash: HUH?!? And now I've run accros a NEW glitch. I can't save!!! Quicksave and the game crashes, manual save... Same thing. Even AUTOsave crashes!!! WTF?!?

 

HELP?!? :sweat:

This is why I always advise people to keep a backup of their "clean" pre-modded data directory somewhere. If you had that, you could just get rid of your current one completely and add your mods in one by one.

 

In your case, you'll need to uninstall and reinstall so that you have that clean data directory (and back it up this time! hehe) then do your mod investigation.

It's borked because Mart's Mutant Mod.esm isn't in the right place.

 

It needs to be right at the beginning of your list just after Fallout.esm.

 

ESM files should always be at the beginning of your list.

Sadly, I'm STILL having the same damn problem. Every time I try to enter a new area, the game crashes. I'm using FOMM for the mods handling, and FOSE for the scripts, and FOMS for the order.

 

As far as I know, I have the latest version of all these mods, and utilities. (I check several times a day)

I wonder if it's a FOMS issue? I have many more mods than you do and don't have any hassles and I don't use it.

 

I'm pretty certain that Martigen states that his esp files have to be loaded last or at least very near the end yet FOMS is telling you to put files in a different order. Personally, I'd stick to what the maker of the mod says.

That's all well and good, but I had the problem before using FOMS.

 

Last night I was up until 7am, trying different things to fix this problem. I'm at my wits end here! :wallbash:

 

I think I need someone to use the same combo of mods, and see if they get the same glitch. If only to confirm that I'm not loosing my mind!! o_O

 

Mods that I'm using that DON'T show on the list are Malos Nude Body, and MTUI, neither of which has an .esp/.esm file.
