Jenlyn Fayre
I'm assuming this "mod" stuff is only something that can be done on the PC version of Morrowind and not the XBOX version. Am I correct? I have the Morrowind GOTY edition for XBOX. Is there a "mod" (I'm assuming that means "modification") FAQ anywhere here? I'm a stone cold naked newbie to this and I need a "Mod for Dummies" kind of thingy. Could you also tell me what this "Construction Set" thing is? And what is a "plug-in?" Please be kind and patient with me...
DreamOfTheRood
Alright, here's the 411 on mods. Mods are plug-ins for the Morrowind game; they add new quests, features, races and, more often than not, bugs to the game, which can provide additional excitement and/or cheats. However, due to the simple fact that the TES Editor is only available on PC, there are and can never be any mods for the X-Box, unless you have a mod chip. The Construction Set is the TES Editor, and it basically allows everything from simple tweaks to entire total conversion mods. You can find a database of PC mods here. You can find information about MWSource's very own total conversion mods in progress here and here. That ought to be good enough information on you. Oh, and don't get confused about the term 'mod,' since we use a double meaning for the word here. In some contexts, it refers to modifications. However, it also refers to the moderators of the forum, like Switch and Peregrine. Don't be too hard on Peregrine. Photanekon frayed his nerves last night, and now he's on edge. Malchik
You have forgotten the charming, ever helpful ME, DOTR! JF, I think if you search the web you find ways to get some mods to work on xbox. I have seen info on it on a couple of other MW sites. I have PC so I do not know if they are nonsense but it's probably worth checking them out.
Nafarius 001
Exactly where would I find some stuff for the x-box version?
DreamOfTheRood
You can find stuff about mod chips here, but I don't know how you would go about getting them to work.

Dagger of Symachus
I'll tell you what little I do know. If you're looking for mod chips, I'd suggest going here to look at Team Xecuter's, which should be releasing X3 in the next few monthes. It should be the best mod chip on the market when released. In order to install a mod chip, you need minor soldering skills. If you don't have these abilities, then this site can upgrade your xbox or you can buy a premodded xbox from them. Also, if you really want to download a lot of Morrowind mods, I'd suggest buying one of these to increase your hardrive space along with 1-3 (depending on how much memory you want) larger IDE drives. I'm not sure if they can work similtaniously, or if they each need their own independent mod chip though. Regardless, with just one, your memory will be severely improved. Also, I am not sure, but I believe you may also need linux installed on your xbox in order to download mods as well. Just follow the instructions on the site to learn how to install linux on your xbox. Also note that with a mod chip installed, xbox live can and will detect your illegal modifications and ban your xbox's serial number. You would then either have to buy another xbox or buy another serial number on ebay (they run about $U.S. 50-80). These all go against your warrenty though, so be extremely careful when doing any of the above. Also, Nafarious 001, these are the team Xecuter forums, which should answer any questions you have. Jenlyn Fayre
Thanks all for your replies. I figured it had something to do with "modifying" the game. I knew that the term "mod" was short for "moderator." Since I don't want to mess up my X-Box, I'll just enjoy MW the way it is-- wonderful! Sure makes me wish I had a PC, though. I'd love to make up some of my own stuff. Maybe someday when I can afford a new computer @ home... sigh...
_it_
i dont know if its possible for you but for about 300 to 500 euros you can build your own computer and its really easy you can make it as cheap or expensive as you want all you need to do is read the manuals carefully and have some general knowledge on computers or you can let a shop assemble it for you providing that the shop will do that for you
