not sure if this is the right place to post it but it seems right

the problem i have is my game seems to think its not in full screen, i think thats the best way to describe it, every now and again my mouse manages to find itself up on the top left corner when i click my game minimizes, very annoying, as every once in a while when i restore the game freezes, making me have to reload oblivion, anyone else have this problem? or a fix for it? very annoying when in the middle of a quest or fighting and clicking to swing my weapon and the game minimizes, it was a minor annoyance at first now its realy starting to annoy me :wallbash:

Is the mouse drifting on you? If so, you need to update your driver.

Also, check to see if you are playing in Windowed mode. I am not sure where the setting is for that but I would look first in the Options, then look in the Oblivion.ini if there is no setting for it under Options. Sorry for lack of specifics, I am not near my game PC.

Well, to help Suilebhain across the log, start up oblivion and look at the options in the pre-game launcher (where you select your data files an such) and see if it is checked Window mode or Full Screen, if it is in window mode, then change it to Full screen and there you go.

If it is NOT in window mode, then change you're resolution to 640X420 (I think that's it) or the lowest your monitor can go, then change it back, that should reset the "Monitor Boundaries" not going in to specifics...

if THAT won't work, then update ALL of you're drivers IF POSSIBLE, not just you're mouse drivers, although if you can't just do the mouse drivers, checking for other updates, should still be a one a month thing =3

what else...oh yeah, reinstall oblivion! That should reset the INI and other files to get the boundaries back!

Sorry, that is all I can spare!

it has always been in full screen mode, and its a new graphics card my one, and i already updated to the latest, and its not just this computer it happens on, it seems to happen on the other one i have it installed on, ill try that resolution one, most i have done is set the resolution a bit higher but does the same

EDIT:

tried the resolution thing, same problem, the problem is kinda hard the explain, its like the mouse is still there behind the game and if i move the mouse/camara ingame and manage to get the "background mouse" up into the corner by swinging the cam around it gets visible up in the corner, and if i accidently left/right click it minimizes the game, very annoying when fighting hordes of enemies and having it minimize on you

Ok, If what you say is true, then you got a new video card, and that is your problem right there, first, UNINSTALL all drivers for you video card, if the problem continues, then reinstall the latest one, then try again, if it is still going, well then that is not the problem.

What video card is it exactly?

And I need an entire list of mods that you are using =3 I KNOW there is one that can cause your problem...

well i KNOW its not a problem with the card, its got to be the game, and not the mods, i know that, it happened long before i installed any mods at all/happens on the other computer we have AND my friend says it happened when he played it on his computer, its got to be a setting within the game that doing it, or some bug with the game that has yet to be fixed

EDIT: to add to that, my mate doesnt have mods on his game usually, so i doubt he had any on his yet his did the same, his he doesnt mind tho he doesnt find it to annoying, but i do, played and at first i didnt mind it, now it gets on my nerves

Could it be that you have any daemons running? I mean background programs. If my firewall blocks a port, a msg box appears asking if I want to allow the access. If that happens ingame, the game might minimize sometimes which will cause a crash on Oblivion(and FO3 I think).

Here's a way to narrow it down:

Play Oblivion until it minimizes itself so you see the Desktop and Oblivion as Tab on the Taskbar. Then, DO NOT CLICK on Oblivion, that might cause your computer to freeze. Instead, right-click on an empty space of the taskbar and open the Task-Manager. Click on the process tab and check the processes which are running next to Oblivion(use this site if you don't know the process IDs: http://www.processlibrary.com/). Imo, your Antivirus or Firewall is requesting your Desktop causing the minimization of the Oblivion process. Once you identifed the problematic Program, deactivate it. Then quit the Oblivion task in Task-Manager(Application tab if I'm not misstaken) and start Oblivion again. Look if the game minimizes again. There's a chance that several programs might cause it, so you should take some time to troubleshoot it.

If you're antivirus/firewall causes the problem, deactivate them before you play(but do yourself a favor and deactivate your Internet connection before you do so). If it's another program, you might want to clean up your computer of unnecessary items, click on start->run and type msconfig. In the new window, check the "systemstart" tab and deactivate all programs except the necessary(do not deactivate your firewall and antivirus software by accident^^). If you're not sure what a specific line means, check google, somewhere there's a site explaining all possible entries.

There is a known problem with an older HP printer driver set. It wants to call home every day to check for an update (how often does a printer need updating?) If your internet if disabled, it will keep trying every ten minutes. Other programs that call home also do this, sometimes they cause a crash and sometimes not, it depends on what the game is doing at the time.

I have also seen IM programs and xfire cause a crash when they check for new messages. Even when your internet connection is disabled.

Background processes all take up a little of the processor's time. Usually not enough to cause a crash, but if you are doing something that takes all of the processing power you have, and one starts with no warning, demanding a piece of the processor, that can cause a crash.

it doesnt minimize itself, its the game, it thinks its not full screen, the mouse can be still visible in the top left hand corner, it doesnt minimize itself, ONLY if i click right when the mouse is up in the top left hand corner, thats my problem, it think its not full screen, im pretty sure its nothing to do with other background tasks or not done updates, that mate i mentioned ALWAYS keeps up to date on everything and still happens to him

ingame when im moving my camara around (the mouse) the cursor finds its way up into the top left hand corner, if i click at that exact moment to say attack with a sword/bow/spell ect the game will minimize and usually oblivion doesnt like being minimized and bug up and freeze, not the computer, so to me that says its a problem with the game nothing else, a setting must be bugged or and unfixed bug, and yes my game is all up to date

EDIT: to be honest i dont know how to explain this problem any clearer, screenshots dont allow cursors to be visible so i can't screenshot it and show it up in the top left so unless someone else has had this problem im having then i guess its just a problem with mine and my mates game

I might have a solution. What I gather is that this problem only started occurring after you installed a new graphics card. My solution is that you open "My Documents/My Games/Oblivion" then delete "Oblivion.ini".

Once you have done this, start the Oblivion Launcher, usually by double-clicking on your desktop icon. If this starts the game instead of showing Oblivion Launcher menu, you may instead click on "start button on taskbar => All Programs (or My Games if using Vista) => Bethesda Softworks => Oblivion => Oblivion". A window should appear saying that Oblivion will adjust itself to your computer. Try play the game now and see if your problem goes away. If not, you may have to uninstall Oblivion then delete your ini file. Anyway, I hope this helps you
