dave6006
Hey I'm new to the whole modding stuff so I decided not to create my own for now and download other people's mods instead. So I have the Fallout mod manager and I have done the invalidation toggle, I also have the FOSE and still every mod that has a texture change it ends up looking like a BIG red square with a white exclamation mark in the middle. How do I solve this problem? I thank you in advance. Dave
PimpBot420
The exclamation mark usually points to a broken/missing mesh or texture. There are some usual culprits you need to check. 1) archiveinvalidation.txt - Since you are running FOMM and ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated!, this is probably not your problem. 2) missing or broken mesh - Any mod you downloaded that creates a new item probably came with meshes and textures. The mesh file will have the extension NIF and must be placed in the ...\Fallout 3\Data\Meshes folder (as directed by the ReadMe of the mod you downloaded). If the Meshes folder does not exist, you can create it.For example: ...\Fallout 3\Data\Meshes\NewGun\NewGun.NIF 3) missing or broken texture - Textures will come with a mod that creates new items or retextures existing items. These will have the extension DDS and must be placed in the ...\Fallout 3\Data\Textures folder. For example: ...\Fallout 3\Data\Textures\Weapons\NewGun\NewGun.DDS The individual ReadMe file for each mod should have more detailed information. I hope this helps.
Smosh
If every mod you are using comes up with an exclamation mark and you are using archiveinvalidationinvalidated then the only thing I can think of is that you are installing the mods manually and you are putting them in the wrong folders. dave6006
There was no meshes folder in the \fallout 3\data folder so I created one but when I open the meshes BSA browser the meshes that I just put in the data folder are not there and the same goes for the textures, and the big exclamation mark is still there. What do I do now? I thank you in advance. Dave
Smosh
I'm not sure why you're doing anything with the meshes BSA file. All you should need to do is unzip the file and the pllace the meshes and/or texture folders into your Data folder.
