thenobody0
I'm a guy and I've only played as a guy. Usually I base my character on myself. Not because I'm a huge narcissist or anything. Just makes me feel more immersed. The only few times I've created a female was because I wanted to make a custom follower, and they were quite modest characters. To each his own. covetable
I didn't expect this to get such a big response :D. thanks guys, new topic I suppose, what would you rather see in the modding community, (both male and female) Lore friendly, anime based or skimpy? prod80
Females are females. You put a girl into a piece of metal and it will look weird. And besides in those times females were not meant to go out and hit s*** in the face with a bastard sword. Also, your general female in the game is not sturdy enough to pull the full weight of a plate armor for longer periods of time (weighing in at around 25 kg). It's a bit weird you can play female at all... but w/e. I play female :P They are perfect for range/sneak kind of characters as their slim profile and general "girl" attitude fits that a lot better. If I would like to play heavy armor + warhammer type of character it would definitely be male. As to your question: LORE FREINDLY high quality armors would be more than welcome. There's some really very high quality work out there, but not much lore friendly good looking stuff. Immersive armors is nice, big package and great stuff, but the textures don't have much going for them (resolution is not high enough... seriously... it's like 512 and 1024 textures :\) Someone should seriously overhaul the thieves guild armors for instance... there's none of them except 1 for CBBE....(and not lore friendly) and others are just color replaced to black. There's no really cool looking replacer while the whole "thief" theme can have so much potential. I tried to do it myself, but those lovely tools I need (Nifscope/Blender) refuse to run on my system, and I refuse to change my system to get them to run or to buy licensed software for just a thieves guild armor. StayFrosty05
I wouldn't say they "divorce" themselfs from the game, IMO they are closer to the game then people who distance themselfs with "realism"a game is an escape from reality, if i wanted "realism" i would go outside, but as frostys status? comment? w/e that is says, the graphics aren't that special. So they chose to play the game wanting an escape from "reality". Now to further add on to my point, lets say you take out the magic/obvious things that can't be done in life and it's just a normal time periodWell way back then you wouldn't have women doing anything like this, and most likely women back then were treated with little respect and treated quite harshly. but in a game you can ignore stuff like that,a game lets you do anything you want ( within the games limitation ofc ) and mods have the possibilty to let your wildest imaginations run free~. So IMO people who stick to the "fantasy" side of a game are much closer to games then people who distance themselfs by trying to add "realism" and make it fit into the laws of reality. But then ofc you have your people who really don't care about any of that, just like big boobs and ass lol. but then again you can say that adds to the feeling of a game even more. bc well if it's "real" then women would have much smaller chest back then. Genetics proves women ( for the most part, depending on where you are~ ) got bigger as time goes on. So in otherwords they are unknowingly getting closer to the game without meaning too. Note : I am a mixture of Realism and fantasy gamer. It does depend a great deal on the 'Realism' someone maybe after though...I live an Urban existence, living in the middle of Suburbia...working, cooking, looking after Teens, etc....But have a fascination with Hunter/Gatherer Lifestyles and various Indigenous Cultures, their Lifestyles, Spirituality, various survival, hunting, medicinal, food, etc...methods they use and live by. Skyrims open world and it's possibilities gives me the opportunity to explore and RP various aspects of these Lifestyles that fascinate me so much, that I otherwise would not have the opportunity to explore....And 'No', I don't have 'Hearthfire'... :P ...I already have a House and Family irl....I don't want to play it....My Dovahkin is a rather primal kinda dude. Yes, it is an escape from 'reality', that is for sure...but it also does allow us to explore realities that may not be our own, but are realities none the less. StayFrosty05
I didn't expect this to get such a big response . thanks guys, new topic I suppose, what would you rather see in the modding community, (both male and female) Lore friendly, anime based or skimpy?I would like to see more 'skimpy' for Males...but not the flavor that's out there on Nexus...you have two kinds of Armor for Males, either the complete cover up or EVERYTHING floating around in the breeze...not good on a cold day.... :ohdear: ....I would like to see more chest, arms, back...maybe the odd thigh...but without 'Mr Happy' making an appearance too....Barbarian kind of skimpy, not "this guy doesn't want kids" kinda skimpy. Take the vanilla Forsworn for example...the Females are skimpy, the Males are not...I would like to see the shirt section off the Males...and fitted to the more popular Mod Bodies. Because i haven't so yes i would have a problem with the sight of a strong nord woman :P
RatcatcherOfKvatch
Ahh, the classic "Brunhilde / Bertha Complex", which if I were a psychiatrist would be a real thing. In case I was too vague I'll break it down: Brunhilde = irresistibly, wildly sexyBertha = yikes The dividing line can be a very fine one.
N7R
This topic seems to be one that comes up in most game forums where a game allows a player choice (which I love customization and choice). Thankfully people here seem more tolerable of others and how they choose to play =) I've always played female in almost every game that offers the choice between female or male. It just fits my play style way more, even if the game is Halo and being female has no difference it's just my default go-to-character. In RPG's and such it just makes sense towards my style in Skyrim as a sleek fast moving target. Not saying Male characters cannot be but if I'm going to go stealth or Archery I might as well use a female character. I always cringe when someone tells me "I'm not allowed to play Skyrim this way" or "Thats not lore friendnly uninstall it now you are ruining your game" when in reality we all have the right to choose and enjoy how we play and what characters we want to play as. When I bought Skyrim I had no intention to do super realistic lore freindly playthroughs. I play for the fun factor and enjoyment of customization more. To answer the OP's question, I play a mixture of everything really. More lore freindly female armor and mods and then more non-lore friendly characters for the fun on if. I've never been into the super hardcore lore style playthroughs. For me I get the fun out of exploration and just bieng a plain sucker for making my character look pretty while find cool treasures in dungeons and such. On the flip side I am planning to do a male playthrough (one day lol), I found an armor mode for Crusader knight armor and totally want a dude running around in full clad medieval armor, will be epic. Ra3000
For me i'll only play as a dude for any play style because it helps me connect and i mostly play a 'realistic' setting. I have made female chars but just to.. ahem, test some mods.
