Avenger20
My FOSE does not appear to be working with steam. I put all of the files into the Fallout goty folder as specified, and launch it from the fose launcher, but it gives me an error each time. launching: fallout3ng.exe (E:\Users\Main User\Desktop\fallout3ng.exe) Couldn't find E:\Users\Main User\Desktop\fallout3ng.exe, make sure you're running this from the same folder as fallout3.exe. checksum not found This annoys me. I am not on a cracked version. One thing to point out is that I have no fallout.exe file in there. Just the data folder and the normal d3d9.dll windows fix. I am running it on 1.7 (up-to-date) so I have no idea what the problem is. Please help, I want to go play FWE already ;D
pkleiss
FOSE must be installed to the same folder as the fallout3.exe This usually means something like: C:\Program Files\Fallout3Though you can specify any folder when installing. It looks like to me that you installed FOSE onto your desktop and I highly doubt that is where you installed Fallout3. If you did, uninstall Fallout 3 and reinstall it to a game folder - I use C:\Games\Fallout3. Then just install FOSE to that same folder. Avenger20
I'm running it on steam, so I suspect that's where the error is. I don't really want to uninstall it already as I would like some more support before I go full steam ahead; I have a lot of mods installed and do not want to have to spend 2-3 hrs installing them again just yet. pkleiss
I am not familiar with running FOSE with the steam version, though I found this video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOLi7Mk53D8 Maybe that will help you.

pkleiss
So, if you run the steam version, there is no local executable - at least no local fallout3 executable? You have to load the game from the web each time, is that correct? If you don't have a fallout3.exe anywhere on your PC, I don't see how you can use FOSE. Is it possible that your fallout3.exe is somewhere else? If so, have you tried installing FOSE to that folder?

I'm not even sure what direction in which to speculate about your misconceptions regarding Steam.Steam (by default) keeps everything in its program folder. Normally: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout 3 goty\Aside from the installation path, there is no other difference.
Avenger20
Yeah there's no fallout.exe in the fallout 3 goty folder and i'm just stumped right now, I've searched for it and can't find it anywhere.
pkleiss
luthienanarion: Strangest? Really? I don't believe I can have any misconceptions regarding steam, becasue i have no concept of how steam works. That is why I was asking. Did you note the question mark punctuation? I do, however, know how FOSE works. If what you say is true, then the folder you indicated, or one similar, would be the perfect location in which to install FOSE. After all, this thread is about getting FOSE to work for a person who has the steam version of Fallout 3 and not about making remarks about the so-called misconceptions regarding the use of steam by the only person who has offered any help so far. Avenger20: If you are not sure where your Fallout3.exe is located, You should do a search for it. Locate that folder and then install FOSE to that folder. If you are running anything newer than Windows XP, you should do this as Administrator so the FOSE Launcher has authority to your fallout 3 folder. I hope this helps. EDIT: I see that you searched for fallout.exe. Did you search for fallout3.exe? Also, what are the properties of the original fallout3 icon on your desktop you used to start the game? It should point to where the executable is. Edited July 20, 2013 by pkleiss
Avenger20
No,the icon on the desktop points to steam, which then initiates a code to launch the game.I cannot find Fallout3.exe anywhere, and my account is the administrator.
