countofanvil
Ok, when I start the Construction Set, I can load my mod fine. There's a chest that I wanna lock, though. When I set the chest to lock in the CS, it doesn't lock in-game. I have a key for it. The key is in-game as well. Can anyone help?
mhahn123
Find the actual in-game instance of this chest in the Construction Set. Double click on it. You should get a menu box with four tabs. Click the tab labled "Lock". On this tab there are three main things to deal with. 1. Put a check in the empty box next to the word "Locked" 2. Set the difficulty of the lock by using the drop down menu next to the word "Level". To assure it can't be lockpicked, use the setting titled " Needs a key" 3. Last but not least, select a key from the drop down menu next to the word "Key". if you have created a key already it will be somewhere in this list. 4. Now be sure to click the "OK" box on the lower left of the menu to enable the changes you made. 5. Finally, make sure to click the save icon in the Construction Set or all this will be for naught. countofanvil
Yeah, but I can't get it locked without taking items from it being stealing.... :(
mhahn123
Where is the chest located? If it is in an interior cell that is not owned by the player, or player faction, or some other faction your character is a member of, that could possibly happen. Also your chest should still lock properly even if ownership is set to Player or Player Faction. It will only open if you actually have the key in your inventory. countofanvil
Check out the latest update for the mod of mine 'beast armor and sword' I just got so annoyed that I just made the chest unlocked instead of going on a treasure hunt for the key

It will only open if you actually have the key in your inventory. That's not actually the case. If the chest itself is owned by the Player or the Player Faction, the key is not necessary for the Player to access it. Only non-owners or those not belonging to the owning faction will be locked out of it. Edited August 17, 2013 by The_Vyper

Thanks for the most helpful insight Vyper. I always worked under the logical assumption that an actual key was necessary.
