Voice mods: translations and the hardware needed for them?

Hi,

I'm a pseudo linguist, meaning I speak several languages, and I have studied a lot of language-related material on my own, but never pursued it professionally.

I've been learning a bit more about localization in software, videogames and websites. The more I learn, the more I want to do more.

So...

I've already translated some mods for Skyrim and New Vegas (Project Nevada Spanish version), now I'd really like to try my hand at translating mods with voices, specifically character mods.

Niner would be a great start. Maybe do that Power Ganger expansion later as it would require more people.

My questions are:

How do I record the audio?

What files am I working with in the Geck?

What, if any special hardware do I need?

Thanks
