The SH0CKER
Hello all :P I'm REALLY new to modding Fallout 3 ( started a couple of days ago) and found the GECK + Nifskope a duanting task of actually understanding (Horrible compared to the game I usedto mod, Jedi Academy)I managed first to get my new sword model to work two days ago however my textures would crash the game ;D Anyway, Basically I've invented this idea of Pre-war prototype Tesla based weapons (Tesla stands for Thermo Electromagnetic Stable Lane Armament) and I've already included a sword based on this theme (Can be found here http://fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=4196 ) Expanding on this theme I've thought of including another weapon based on this : A flamethrower. It would be too easy to put in a gun with this concept but with all the gun mods out there its just 'Another gun'. Making it a flamethrower type weapon makes it relatively unique as burning people with superheated liquid plasma if far from ordinary in fallout 3 ( or boring ;D ) the actual model is about 50% done. Heres a pic: Also just for design sake theres a very WIP quick drawing in CS2. Note some of the changes.
SaintJames420
Glow? Will it? But hell yeah man we need a new flame thrower...the vanilla one is.....lacking.
The SH0CKER
Unfortunately I have no idea how to make/implement a glow map :(
neunen
for a glow map, just create a copy of the texture with everything black, except for the parts you want to glow(the whiter they are the more it will glow). then save it as *_g.dds and add that texture in the 3rd texture slot within nifskope (the one under the normal map). the only part i cant remember 100% is if you have to set the emmissive color property in nifskope to white, or to the color that you want it to glow... i think its the latter. hope that helps a bit, the model looks good edit: ah nope, my mistake. you change the emmissive slider to white and then in the texture map use the colors that you want it to glow http://www.fallout3nexus.com/articles/article.php?id=
The SH0CKER
Ah, Thanks a bunch neunen! Ironic considering glow maps are the same setup as on the previous game I was modding :whistling: Also I've finished the backpack mesh and added some air intakes to the flamethrower:
The SH0CKER
After spending an hour trying to get the weapon into position ( How the flamethrower is setup is crazy :wallbash: ) I got the untextured version into the game.Unfortunately the holding and back position are slightly off and need a bit of tweaking. SaintJames420
lookin good though! what you might want to do is have the "flames" the same color as the plasma ingame! or maybe a little more white in the middle? but GREEN FIRE! (btw stoner's are gonna love this)
The SH0CKER
I'm to going to use the plasma rifle splash hit effect ( basically a load of green gunge coming out the end) and the plasma critical effect too.
SaintJames420
would it be compatible with the "flesh burning plasma mod?" Cause that would be sweet to leave a room full of charred skeletons!
