Thor.
Hey everyone, i am so close to maxing out my Radeon 7950's and they both are the same clock per card. I managed to oc the memory a lot. Where you see the fps increase is the memory for some reason, i had a good 15fps increase from the OC alone. http://oi43.tinypic.com/118dgkm.jpghttp://oi39.tinypic.com/mtmuc5.jpgAlmost maxing it out, slowly yet surely. ZeroKing
Sweet, got similar results on my brother's card as well. AMD's Southern Island architecture is surprisingly well-done, and overclocks quite nicely.
Thor.
Indeed, it runs pretty smooth :thumbsup:I am very, very please with the outcome. last fps was 111fps max, now this is another story. very happy. http://oi41.tinypic.com/2ue2ybr.jpg Edited July 23, 2013 by Thor. Rennn
Very nice. AMD seems to hold the edge in overclocking this generation. I was able to push my old GTX 460 GC far past stock voltage safely and gain 250mhz core, plus 200mhz memory. My GTX 660 GC, while faster than the OC'd 460 regardless, is not nearly as easy to OC. I'd be lucky to get 50mhz core, which hardly translates into real world performance. The boost clock is over 1000mhz anyway, but with the voltage locked as it is, I can't take it any higher. Equivalent 7870s can OC by as much as 200mhz, without a major voltage increase. AMD is most certainly more overclockable this time. kalikka
Maybe I should test how far I can get with maxed voltages. 1200mhz@1,25v is pretty stable.
ZeroKing
Managed to get both of my HD 7970 boosted up. 15 fps increase solid, without much of a voltage tweak to it. Plus, surprisingly, temperature didn't go up that much as I had thought. NVIDIA doesn't seem to have that benefit this time around, either with the 600 or 700 series. The GPU boost works nicely with my GTX 680, but the same goes for my HD 7970...... without the need to tweak the voltage as much (comparing with the NVIDIA card, that is). This time, it seems AMD is treating me quite well.
Thor.
The cool thing is that the card was already OC'ed from its original clock from 800mhz, which is a manufactured oc of 900mhz vs standard radeon 7950's. i could get it up to a 7970 clock speed but that's a risk i am not willing to take. Gigabyte rules for the most OC friendly Radeon Cards ever  . Edited July 24, 2013 by Thor.
