Shakken
So i've heard in many threads around the internet "I hate the *ban* ending. I had Fawkes as my companion, why couldn't he activate the purifier if he is highly rad resistant? Or charon, who is immune to radiation" Well, here's the thing, nobody else has thought about this yet... If you had fawkes activate it, sure, he'd do it if you could persuade him to do it. But if you activated the PURIFIER, that would KILL THE SUPER MUTANTS. Including FAWKES. So, he would die...... Well, that's basically suicide, so I think that's why the dev's didn't make an option for him to do it. You saved his life, he wouldn't kill himself to lose it. discuss. dragonpen61
Sorry, don't agree! main character has to decide to put in virus or not. Can choose to pass it over to Brotherhood of Steel to gain good karma. Fawkes does not have virus and probably does not even know it exists. If Fawkes did activate the PURIFIER he could not be able to use the virus and no mutants would die, super or otherwise. Fawkes would live, main character would live, and DC Wastelands would get wonderful new fresh waters. PS: Project Purity would not probably work in real life because its not in the right location and I am not sure how it would work anyway over such a big area. But its a game and a good one so I really don't mind.

It's meant to purify the Tidal Basin, as Doctor Li says. The Jefferson Memorial sits right on the Tidal Basin.
Poliochi
Dragonpen is right on this one. In future expansion packs (Broken Steel?), the ending may be changed that way. Or some other way. I dunno. But there are mods that make them say yes, or there should be, since there are mods that allow you to continue wandering the Wasteland once the MQ is done.
