Looksmenu causes save options to grey out

I have been having this problem for a while and I have narrowed it down to looks menu. I am on very hard difficulty. After unchecking mod after mod, Looksmenu seems to be the cause of the problem. When I disabled looksmenu, I was able to reload saves without save and quick save being greyed out. I do get a "mainquest error message" but it does allow me to save. It's not an anti-virus issue as I already tried those solutions. However, I still need looksmenu for some other mods to function. How do I fix this?

edit: AAF also seems to be doing the same thing.

I'm getting the same issue with AAF. If i open the game, load a save the save options work. But if i load that save again they grey out. Disabling AAF fixes the issue. Did you manage to find the cause?

Just reasoning this out, but...

Both LooksMenu and AAF disable save while in use. :geek:

(since the state of the game is in limbo ATT).

  1. Are you, or were you recently in an AAF scene/LooksMenu?
  2. Are you using FallSouls or some other HUD/UI tools? (Also; do you have All the Requirements for both troubled plugins)?
  3. When you disable the plugin what is the "mainquest error message" verbatim. (perhaps a clue).
  4. Check your load order.

The Cudgel, (beat it with a blunt instrument). :pirate:

Type in console :
~
DumpInputEnableLayers
This will show a list of layers and what controls are enabled/disabled and by what process.
one of those layers may have an AAF function associated with it.
so maybe something like:
layer 0 (something ...)
layer 1 (aafpluginfunctions ...
in Console:
resetinputenablelayer 1
setplayeraidriven 0
If you are in the middle of a scene and your character is stuck/bugged,
Use the above code to restore your controls, move to a better position,
and then type in Console:
disableplayercontrols
setplayeraidriven 1
To continue the scene.
Note: Walking away is not fully endorsed as a solution.
Important: Its really dangerous to reset control layers entirely, but you may be able to zero in on what is causing the problem.
There was another workaround, but it's not quite coming to me ATM.

Just found what the issue was by following your advice about UI mods: HUDCaps. Even though i'm using the script that was supposed to fix this issue. Thanks.
