SkyyDX
Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately disabling the sound helped nothing. After all testing I've done now it seems that my bad performance stands in direct relationship with the three lines you see under the fps indicator when you enable tdt. Could someone explain what these three lines display?: Task CountReference CountBSTask Count These 3 values are always jumping around like crazy whenever I suffer from bad performance, if the game runs smooth like in Island of the Blessed, the numbers stand still. BossDweebe
If your HD is thrashing I would look into the pagefile.I would do this anyway. If your page file is all over the place then the drive has to jump aroundfor the data. (Is there one green block on the defrag report or a bunch of little ones ?)If you let windows set the size for you then you will end up with little green stripes all over your hard drive. Try deleting your pagefile. Then rebot and defrag. Then set up a new page fileand make the min and max size the same - 1.5 to 2 times the amount of RAMyou are running. I have my computer set up to clear the pagefile on shutdown(using a program called Tweak XP ). This keeps the pagefile clean, and also gets rid of error reports that may be lingering in the pagefile, and whichcontribute to more frequent crashes. We have to remember that all these mods and high res textures require a lotof memory. RAM is not enough. We still need the pagefile to help keep things movingalong smoothly. EDIT: Reading what Vagrant says below has led me to reading your notes more carefully.I had thought you were having problems in all outdoor areas, but if the Arboretum is having more trouble than other areas then my solution is probably not applicable.I haven't had any problems with UL myself, but I am only using four currently. The re-done LOD sounds a bit scary though.... Vagrant0
If I would have to guess, it's something with the UL mods, probably a conflict with some other mod. Try playing a new game (cheat your way out of prison) without any of the UL mods active, you might notice some performance improvement. Also, you mentioned that you re-did your own LODs, what program, resolutions and settings did you use. If you built using 4098x4098 textures, this might be the cause as your videocard may have trouble dealing with textures that large. If you regenerated VWD objects, treating everything as VWD, you can often have severe performance losses.
