Zmid
Who says that God made only earth? How about the bible said it... It clear says "God created heaven and the earth" It never mentions the universe or galaxy or space time continum or the Magical World of Happyland or Canada or Planet X ect... You are correct in that the Bible does not say God created the rest of the universe, but I think dienekes point was that the Bible also does not say He didn't. dienekes
You are correct in that the Bible does not say God created the rest of the universe, but I think dienekes point was that the Bible also does not say He didn't. That's exactly my point, but aditionally to that, the bible says God mad the stars and the lights in the sky (which obviously describes the sun and the moon). Now, how were people who wrote down this part of the bible supposed to understand that the stars are actually other suns and even faraway galaxies? But the bibel specifically says God created the stars and EVERYTHING and that includes the other planets. The heavens and the earth is a way of saying EVERYTHING, for what is there besides it? _it_
a question for the christians do you think there is life on other planets or even a slight possibility on a far away planet ? sry 4 the dubbel post
Darnoc
When we look at it purely by the bible, I must say that it is possible, since the bible doesn't deny the existence of lifeforms on other planets. So we can trust in science there to find an answer for that question, even when you are a Christian.
_it_
but if we find it a whole belief system gets discarded
Darnoc
Which one? I am a Christian and don't have a problem with that. So there are other lifeforms in the universe, what's the problem? Since I am a Christian, I believe in god. Since god, if he exists, is almighty, why shouldn't it be possible for him to create other lifeforms than those living on earth? And how the hell should this affect anyones faith in any kind of way? The Christian faith is not about different lifeforms, they are completely unimportant concerning Christian faith. Christian faith is only about the lifeform called human living on earth. There may be other lifeforms existing on other planets, but that doesn't touch Christian faith in any kind of way. DreamOfTheRood
Do you think there is life on other planets or even a slight possibility on a far away planet ? The answer required of this question is essentially unprovable at the moment, and it will be for quite a while. I do believe in the existence of other life-forms, including those of supernatural constitution, but I can't prove it. However, you'll still have to bear with me as I answer the follow-up to your question, which is this: Will we ever make contact with them? Assuming that YHWH-YRH, who would later become a man called Jesus and die for the sins of mankind, created forms of life that exist, will exist or have existed on other planets, there is the extreme improbability that they would ever make contact with us in our present state. This is due to our world's unfortunate occupation by enemy combatants, which are commonly referred to as demons. The sad truth is that, when Satan and one-third of the Host of Heaven were cast out of God's presence, they were not thrown into what we call Hell, nor were they thrown into the Abyss. They were thrown down here, to Earth; essentially, they live among us. Now, you can argue all day about the finer points of how we perceive them, but that's not the point. The point is this: they exist, they are here, and they hate us. Their goal is the pantheist's dream: the psychic assimilation of every living being on this planet. They want our souls; more specifically, they want our souls chewed up and digested. This is why I think that contact with alien life-forms is so unlikely: we are in the midst of a spiritual war, and the stakes are a very eternal life and death. Why would anyone unaffected by this war want to enter into it? As far as I know, anyone within our atmosphere is subjective to spiritual attack, and that would definitely include any alien visitors, which brings me to my other point. Since the one-third of Heaven's Host was cast down to Earth and nowhere else, I am led to believe that all alien life-forms are unaffected by any kind of spiritual temptation. By entering Earth's atmosphere and subjecting themselves to our spiritual war, they would be taking a great risk; they would be at risk of committing the greatest, perhaps first, sin of their race. Adam and Eve were told not to eat the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. In the case of foreign visitors, you can extrapolate earth's current state of warfare to eating that fruit. It is my position that a barrier has been created around our planet so that aliens may not enter our atmosphere. This would not be a physical barrier; instead, it would be one of the spiritual realm, and it may extend much farther out from our atmosphere. However, that is just a theory. What I do know is that we are in the midst of a spiritual war, and the real question is, "How are we going to deal with that?"
CecilofLore
I love reading debates about religion. It is my beliefs that someone or something is out there watching out for us. I don't believe that because the bible tells me to, but because it helps me through the dark times when it seems like nothing else will. Now a debate like this just ends up being an argument over who's god is right and whether there is a god. I am not a big church man and never really took time to get in depth into any religion, but it seems to me the whole basis of any religion is faith. If you really believe and live your life with those beliefs, you will be rewarded. Now does it really matter who anyone believes in as long as they have faith in them. Whether God is real or just someone made up long ago, it's the idea of having someone watching over us that is the real comfort.
_it_
so we all lie to our selves and we think that a divine will hold our hands in dark times etc.... but if a christian beliefs in extraterrestial life then he is a hypocryt since the bible only says god created life on earth
