Night-eye bug?

Twice today when I went to Bravil, first immediately upon fast traveling, then after casting Beguile on the guy who stole the staff, my character picked up the effect Night-eye without my doing anything. It just appeared in my list of Spells as an ability.

I hate having everything blue. I didn't add anything to my character, it just spontaneously appeared. Is there any way to get rid of it? Thanks in advance.

you added no custom race mods with this ability?

No, I added nothing. That is what was weird about it. I checked every item that I purchased and none of them had Night-eye or any version of it.

I went back to an earlier save and avoided Bravil and so far it didn't happen, but I am not sure how long that will hold out.

Have you used any of the mod merge tools? sometimes they do wierd things that show up like your problem afterwards. Did you make any special enhanced equipment or something. Although Wrye Bash is a great tool, I've experienced a few little surprises even using that. The best thing I've read about your problem so far is that you went back to a previous save and things were ok, a good save is always the best thing to have in these situations. Good luck!

The only thing I used Wrye Bash for was I created a couple of new companions, none of which have Night Eye or anything like it. Hmmm, the game is afoot...or is the foot a game?

Well considering your unorthodox character creation methodology, perhaps its best to call in an expert on such phenomena, while you're working on that try to get hold of Moe and see if Curly has any more cans of Anicanipanistol ( a cure for all ills) and put a few drops on a cottonball and rub a little on your machine, its a long shot but it might pump up a weakened driver or a broken byte or something.

Heheh... soytenly!

Actually, I used Wrye Bash to create the companions because I was importing saved faces. I would import the face into the .esp, then open the CS from Wrye Bash. Other than that, my companion creation was fairly standard, except for the beast skeleton nif and all.

You know, there is one other thing I did that was undone by going back on the save - I have Dall's Molag Bal mod installed, and I recruited the Arch Mage's Daughter Janines to my group, then I had her wait for me at Valusview Manor. Perhaps recruiting her gave me Night Eye for some odd reason, like a power by association. After going back to the earlier save, I saw that she was hanging around where I first met her.

In Fallout 3 theres a cheat to add and "remove" perks.

There could be something in Oblivion like removing character abilitys such as your night eye.

I am not sure about it tho and I am not very fluent with the console commands but a research in google/Oblivion cheats could be worth a try.

If that wont work you could try to search some mods that disable night eye or something, maybe make its effect better or something, there re tons of echanted item effect disabler so there could be something like that aswell.

And if you aint having succes with that, best you could do is to stick with an older save and hope that wont happen again and incase it happens again wait for pro who might be able to give you further support on that.
