Skeletal Mesh woes

Replacing materials, textures and static meshes is pretty straightforward but attempting to do same with skeletal meshes always end up failing and crashing the game with "Serial size mismatch" error. I've never seen this happening with any other ue4 game so i'm not sure if there is a way to get it working or not. Any ideas to fix it? Google doesn't help..
