Relativelybest
Hi. So, I've been interested in modding for years, but I haven't gotten around to actually learning about it until now. As such, I have no experience at all and know nearly nothing about this stuff, so forgive me if I say anything stupid. Thing is, I've read the FAQ and modding tutorial only to find that I don't seem to have any ArchiveInvalidation.txt anywhere in my Fallout 3 folder. Is this going to be a problem? Or do I just download ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated and get cracking anyway?
BulletSix
i vote for the latter. (ArchieveInvalidation invalidated) i use it and wouldn't live without it. (even if it were the cause of my crashes, which i strongly doubt) if you do not want to use it, just create an textfile named "ArchiveInvalidation.txt" and put in every texture (and mesh?) you want to use, thats not "vanilla". Afaik, both methods have pros and cons, but dealing the textfile has much more issues than the other one.
Cipscis
There aren't really any disadvantages at all when it comes to using ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated! instead of ArchiveInvalidation.txt. If you're using texture replacers, then you should be using ArchiveInvalidationInvalidated! Any Mod author that recommends ArchiveInvalidation.txt instead is probably ignorant of just how wrong it is. Cipscis
Relativelybest
Well, I've got it working now. Anyway, I wasn't seriously considering using ArchiveInvalidation.txt directly, I was just mildy concerned that I couldn't find it. But thanks for taking the time to reply. BulletSix
i stand corrected :)i just thought there was something on the negative side of ArchiveInvalidation invalidated ... But since i didn`t understand everything i read about this subject, i misunderstood *g* anyway from my oblivion days i can tell, the .txt-file is a hassle, whereas from fallout, the bsa-method is a breeze. :)
