Rubiks
First off, I'd like to say hello to all of you here at TES Nexus. My name is Jon.Secondly, I'd like to thank all of you who have worked so hard to create all of these awesome mods. Great work! On to the bread and butter... Would it be possible to create a mod that changes the way weapons are equipped to your character? I've always found it kind of lame that you could just make your weapons simply "appear" in your hands with a push of a button. I think it would be very cool to be able to equip a maximum of 3 weapons at a time, and have them all visible on your character at once. So basically, because of the default positions of the weapons, you could equip a bow, a two handed weapon, and a one handed sidearm at once. All 3 would be visible on your character, and you would have to sheath the weapon currently in use in order to draw another one. If a mod like this already exists, I cannot find it. So there is my suggestion. I may try to tackle it myself, but I have never undertaken a mod before, and am still a novice with 3D applications. Thanks. -Rubiks-
AzirAphale001
I don't think this would be possible, something to do with the way Oblivion handles the weapon slots. Making armor with weapons on them (as decoration) would be possible, but wouldn't work the way you want it to.
Rubiks
So it wouldn't be possible to mod the way oblivion handles the weapon slots? I dunno, it seems that people have altered more complicated things then that, but I guess I wouldn't really know for sure since I've never modded anything before. What seems simple could actually be horribly complicated... If its not possible then oh well. But I would like to know for sure since I think it would be a very cool addition. Basically, this is how I would like for it to work. It would use the hotkey option, but there would be 3 reserved slots for your 3 weapons. Whatever gets put into those slots appears on your character regardless if its in use or not. If you wanted to use a claymore, you would press the corresponding hotkey. If you wanted to switch to your sidearm or bow, you would press the hotkey as normal, but animations would be added so your character would sheath one weapon before drawing the next one. In fact, I remember seeing similar animations used with the guards. Sometimes they have their bows out, but if you get too close, you actually see them put it away before drawing their sword. Of course, the bow disappears... I think. Also I think I remember seeing imperial foresters running around with their swords, and their bows were still visible on their backs. I could be wrong, I'm going to go make sure.
AzirAphale001
I know that this mod does something like that. There are 4 weapons that are held on a harness on your back, and when you wield one it gets taken out of the harness. That same principal could probably be used for this purpose, but only for specific weapons, as a new model is needed for every combination of weapon(s). Rubiks
I can't see the harness, but yes, I suppose that's kind of what I mean. So the only way you see this being possible is creating a new model for every single possible combination of weapons. Man, that's an incredible amount of work, I don't think I would have the time to do all of that. Especially since I use "real swords" mod as well. I wonder if there is a simpler way to do this, if in fact its even possible at all... If anyone has any suggestions, it would be awesome. If not, well, it was fun thinking about it :P.
