kesnit
I just picked up NV for the PC, but have been playing it on a console since it came out. So far I've only added a few mods, and I seem to have a problem. I went to hack the computer in the schoolhouse in Goodsprings, which is listed as "Easy." However, it was giving me 7-letter passwords, which I believe is "Hard." I assume one of the mods changed the difficulty, but I cannot figure out which one and how to reset it. I know there are a few mods that remove the mini-games for hacking/lock picking, but I would rather not go that route. I'm running Project Nevada, NVEC-Complete, A World of Pain, More Traits/More Perks, Unified HUD, and the Mod Configuration Menu.
Tank0123
Well there is this http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34829/?tab=2&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmodfiles%2F%3Fid%3D34829&pUp=1 but that looks more like a cheat akin to what you were trying to avoid. There's also this thread. See the 2nd post down. If you use that strategy, hacking might be easier.http://www.gameskyrim.com/any-hacking-mods-worth-using-t63787.html
kesnit
Sorry for the confusion. I don't think I phrased my post very well. What I am looking for it how to reset whatever mod is making hacking more difficult back to vanilla. So when a console says it is "Easy," I get passwords of the "Easy" length (which I think is 4 or 5), not 7-letter passwords.
TheStrictNein
Password lengths are relative to science skill. So if you science is 25 you'll get a 7-letter password, if it's 100 you'll get 4 or 5 letters. It's not a glitch, it's in the vanilla game. kesnit
Ah... OK. Maybe that's a change from the console version, or maybe I've always started with a higher Science when I've played before. Thanks.
