ethanhonglongnguyen Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I've been wondering because I got a CTD when I tried quick-saving in a middle of a battle and the Skyrim Performance Monitor showed me having used only 1.5gb of RAM but 1.9gb of VRAM (my GPU's VRAM is 2gb).
ethanhonglongnguyen Posted July 29, 2013 Author Posted July 29, 2013 I'm also using the 2K Textures, SMIM, and W.A.T.E.R (if that does anything).
ZeroKing Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) High RAM usage causes crashes, high VRAM usages usually causes stuttering and/or slowdowns. If you reach extreme VRAM usages, then the engine pushes some offloads to the RAM first, which SPM does not pick up, and you may not know if the RAM or VRAM caused the crash. Other times, crashes on save loading is due to corrupted save files or trying to quick-save in intense situations...... blame Bestheda for bad engine. Optimize your textures, use BOSS to get proper load order, use TES5Edit to clean your game .esm files (Update.esm, Dawnguard.esm, etc), and so forth. Edited July 29, 2013 by ZeroKing
