Black-Jack 1

It was one of those dark and stormy nights, the kind that make people wonder what they have been doing with their lives, and the kind that give poets epiphanies at 2:00 am. It was on this particular night that more bad news had reached, the new captian of the Guard. Maximus Testosteronius, had been awake all night partly from the ale and wine, but mostly from the case he couldn't figure out. Because someone had been murder last night, killed by a knife wound, which could come from anyone, and the only discription was that of a man. Well as a state official you can't have people going around and question every male in the city, just doesn't make sense.

He knew it wasn't the Gray fox, just wasn't the man's style, nor was that mask seen by any witness. Nor was it the dark brotherhood, no sign of black hoods, and beside the brotherhood use special weapons, and like to make their presence known.

No all anyone knew was that one poor old guy was dead and nobody had any clue what was happening. To make matter worse the fall festival was approaching and he couldn't let a murderer be on the streets when foreigners from across Cyrodil where coming to see the capital. No that couldn't happen but what to do.

Maximus lay awake waiting for an answer, hopign that it would come soon, but answer never just come. But tonight wasn't like any night tonight a lone mind was searching for the answer and it just do happend that he found his. Sitting up straighet at his desk he knew what must be done. "Freelance" he said to himself, i need someone who can get in behind the truth and go beyond tha law. Its time for a little help. And with that comforting thought he went to his bed and laid down, in the morning he'll put up a notice for adventuerer assistance to the legion. Someone ought to sign up right away. His dreams were pleasant that night.

Maximus had seen at least 15 people today lookign for the "freelance legionaire" job. But nobody was what he was looking for. Pressing his hands against his eyes he thought that it was about time to close the office, and he promised himseld that the nect person to come in would get the job. And as fate would have it the door opened.........

She always had this problem with doors, she knew. You didn't have to kick them out of the way as though the had just made a rather crude joke about your mother, but there was allways a small part of her that just couldn't resist giving them a good boot. It didn't really fit with her idea of what a Holy Servant of the Nine should do - but at least it made people look up when she came in the room.

Striding into the room as the door slammed noisily back, she abruptly switched into a more respectfull stance as she had always been brought up to respect authority. Raising her hands together at her chest, she then lowered them and gave a stiff formal bow. As she straightened up she brushed a hand against her mask, straightening it slightly. She was vaguely uneasy about this as she had - clashed with city watches before. It was unfortunate but it happened. However right now, above all else, she needed a job.

"Excuse me sir but I was sent here for applicants for the er - freelance job that was advertised. Sir."

-Suddenly the narrator (me) appears before Xan, and wisspers.

"psst... Xan this is a solo campaign if you want to play i'll set you up with Black-Jack two, otherwise get off the stage. Or if you want to be part of a group go to the roleplaying section, and find the solo campaign sctiction in the Stinking Barfly tavern. But for now give some curtose to the lady!"

-Another small note to anyone looking in on the action, the whole point of this was to make 3 seprte campaigns that are all filled with the same content. But individual plyers can make it their own, if you want to play find me, and tell me. Sorry if thsi wasn't clear before-

Maximus looks up drearally, "wha, oh sorry" he says in appology. "I was just thinking about all the crazy people who came looking for this job, but as you can tell no person was the on we are looking for. But nevermind that, please sit down and tell a little about your self. And then maybe we can get this show on the road."

"Yessir, can't have crazy people working for you sir."

Unhooking her sword from her back and leaning it against the wall, so as to prevent it from cutting her chair in half, she sat down primly in the offered seat. Time to tell her selectively edited history.

"Well sir - My name is Orivia. I've previously worked as a city guard a few years back. In uh - Morrowind. I left however due to - the lack of challence I felt it presented me. However during my travels I have tried to continue to uphold the law wherever I go. I - have been to the Imperial city quite a few times and I feel I know the city quite well - almost as if it's a second home to me ahahah. Ahem. If there is any trouble, no matter how small, I wish to assist the city in any way possible. I am sure this is the wish of the Nine."

"Hummm sounds interesting, well i think you'll be better qualified than well anyone else i've seen today. Well as you may be aware we have a killer out there and with the Festival coming up, so well... The most important part is to find this guy beofore the people start ariving."

Reaching into the deak and withdrawing a document he then signed it and handed it over to the lady. "That is a official satement from me that, will give you the authority of any other guard. look under every stoen and ask around we don't know anything so i can't give you any info, but we need you to find this man, and quick. SO get out there talk to the people, and scare a snitch. But more importantly good luck"

"What should I do when I find him sir?"

Trying to supress the visions of righteous smighting that welled up to cloud her vision, Orivia couldn't help but feel as though an unexpected birthday present had dropped right into her lap. A murderer! For her! Back when she had worked in the watch they had kept her away from the big cases - unsure if she'd end up just raising the body count. But she had learned self controll since then. She was quite shure of this. And she would catch him - there was no doubt. The Nine would lead her to him.
