Bethesda Texture Mods on PC

Hi all,

(Apologies if this is in the wrong place. I'll redirect if asked.)

Hopefully an easy question: I use primarily Nexus mods on PC with Vortex as my only mod manager. Recently I've discovered that many old mods have left Nexus for other pastures, but many are still available on Bethesda (and easy enough to download via Skyrim's Bethesda menues). My question is this: Is it generally safe to mix and match Texture and Mesh packs from Bethesda with other mods from Nexus? Mostly talking about mods that retexture Creatures and Animals and some that also remesh a few creatures and animals. An example would be Divine Dragon Textures by Tarsh. Can I download this via the main menu Bethesda interface and then just scoot it down in load order on Vortex to make sure it overrides other any conflicting textures from other mods? Has anyone run into issues with mix-matching textures in this fashion? Is there a better way to download them than using Bethesda's provided interface?

I'm sure that some folks would just advise against mixing textures from Nexus and Bethesda; but I've found that Skyrim SE is severely lacking comprehensive creature retexture packs, while they are plentiful on Bethesda.

Also bonus question - Any problem with mixing overhauls from Bethesda with Nexus mods? For example; could I download Better Vampires from Nexus and then Download Cosmetic Vampire Overhaul from Bethesda without trouble (well, without trouble beyond the normal "brown bug face" risk of messing with Vamps)?

Thanks all!

Mods are mods - doesnt matter the source. i've got mods from beth.net, nexusmods and discord channels. as long as they're packaged correctly, you can use them in your game with no issues.
