mackico
Well, my computer likes CTDs. It CTDs with other Bethesda games (I was posting about this very issue on the NV Nexus last week, as it would happen) and also with non-Bethesda games such as The Sims, and also occasionally IE, Google Chrome and Microsoft Word. It really, really likes CTDs, like I said. It's been doing this with Skyrim since I first installed the game (Steam, Legendary Edition), and will usually do it after 1-2 hours of gameplay, but sometimes after only 10-20 minutes. CTDs are random, sometimes upon entering or exiting an interior, sometimes in combat, sometimes upon entering or exiting conversation, some just running around town or roaming the wilderness. I get around it by saving regularly. I fixed most, if not all of my CTDs on NV with a mod called Mission Mojave. I was wondering if there were any similar mod-based fixes for Skyrim? Note that I get CTDs even when I run my game with no mods on a completely new save, but my currently installed mods and load order are as follows, in case you think it relevant: Skyrim.esmUpdate.esmDawnguard.esmHearthFires.esmDragonborn.esmFalskaar.esmChesko_Frostfall.espDawnsPoshPonies.espConvenient Horses.esp SkyUI.espCloaks.esp1nivWICCloaks.espBrevi_MoonlightTales.esp3DNPC.espRealisticNeedsandDiseases.espRND_Dawnguard-Patch.espRND_HearthFires-Patch.espRND_Dragonborn-Patch.espAmazingFollowerTweaks.esp And that's it. (I haven't actually run the game with Falskaar in the mix yet.)
yttriumtyclief
I know it doesn't seem like it would be the cause, but try disabling Amazing Follower Tweaks. I have a modlist of around 200 mods, including large sound and content files. A few HD textures and meshes, but nothing major or over 2K. Skyrim clocks in at 1.3GB, whereas most people surpass that by quite a bit. I have a pretty modest machine - an i5 2500k clocked at 4.5GHz, a 550 Ti 1GB, 6GB RAM, 1TB HDD. Win7 x64. I've been fighting it all day, where it rarely loads without issue and then the entire game is perfectly fine, no CTDs or anything, but as soon as I save, quit the game, and try to reload, ALL of my saves (even starting new games, saving, and trying to load that) cause infinite loading screens, black screens afterward, and CTDs. I noticed you had AFT installed, and figured huh, that's the only thing we share in common that's non-official. I removed it. Instantly fixed, and it even fixed some stuttering issues I got on the main menu (where it's perfectly 60fps for two seconds, then freezes (even the cursor) for a second, then smooth for two, then freezes, consistently in that pattern). So, try that, see if it works. As for the rest of your programs, have you ever tried doing a memtest? Edited July 30, 2013 by hero_lief

AFT is pretty new, as in I only added it into the mix recently. I installed it after I started having issues running Moonlight Tales with that other follower mod which I have temporarily forgotten the name of. They were incompatible, but I'll try getting rid of it and see what happens. I was having CTDs before then though, but hey, it's worth a shot.
