Deleted4363562User
I like the film and book "The Road", and thought the idea of using a shopping cart to move gear and food around was resourceful. http://i1089.photobucket.com/albums/i352/alloutwillie/the-road.jpg I'm not sure if it would be possible, but I'd love to see a cart of some kind that the player could use to store and move gear. Would it even be possible to "attach" the player to the cart so that they could better control its movement? If we were to just simply use the current shopping cart mechanics in-game it would be very difficult to near impossible to actually use it as mobile storage container. Can the current shopping cart in-game be made into a container? If it could, it wouldn't look very pleasing as it is empty. There'd have to be a visual adjustment or make-over. How difficult would it be to make a "player cart-push mode"? That is, a mode in which the player's hands are attached to the cart and thus the player's movements control both his or herself as well as the cart. dangman4ever
You can in fact turn the shopping cart into a container. Just did a quick test:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/dangman4ever/ScreenShot344_zps68cfd1a5.png As for pushing it around, that's going to be the tough part. You may have to forgo the "hands attached to the cart" part as there aren't any animators left in the Fallout community anymore apparently. As for moving it around, I'm not a scripter but these two mods might be of some use:http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/37083/?http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/49042/ Both involve moving an object around in some form or another. Alternatively, turn the shopping cart into a companion :D. EDIT: Just hit me right now: You can turn the shopping cart into an outfit item of sorts. You "wear" it (basically the shopping cart is placed in front of you) and then when you want to access it, you drop the cart onto the ground and open it from there. That's what these backpack mods did:http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34931/?http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/44104/ And along those lines: the Bedroll from Lonesome Road and this lawn-chair mod:http://newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/45945/ So this is definitely looking plausible. Deleted4363562User
Alternatively, turn the shopping cart into a companion :D. Actually this last idea you had here might be the better and easier thing to do. Maybe someone could make a bulky box-shaped "robot" on wheels or tracks - or perhaps one that hovers - that could mostly carry your gear around instead of fighting or talking a whole lot. devinpatterson
Read my edit. Hey Dangman4ever, do you work with blendr or 3dsmax? I ask because if you don't I can try and see about rigging a cart to a bone for you. It would have the up and down motion of the skeleton though. Even if it was weighted different I'm not sure tere is a way to minimize the vertical movement adn keep the horizontal (so the cart stays in front of you). anyway let me know if you want me to take a shot at rigging it. devinpatterson
The other alternative (if you don't want to go with a rigged model) is much like this that I set up for Squawky the raven, except of course we'd use a shopping cart model and have it in front instead of over the player; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yUoC8cy41r0 The script does impose a bit of a hit (not really noticible on current mid to higher level machines) and you wouldn't have the animation of pushing unless we can find a kf with it already made, somewhere in the game. dangman4ever
Unfortunately I'm barely learning how to use Blender at the moment. So feel free to take a shot whenever you have free time. Though I'd imagine that won't be for awhile considering your workload. Read my edit. Hey Dangman4ever, do you work with blendr or 3dsmax? dangman4ever
aloot, if you still want the follower container idea, maybe this might be what you're looking for?:http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v37/dangman4ever/protectron_supply_zpsa2f12e59.png A quick and dirty kit-bash of the antique Protectron with Enclave crates. Deleted4363562User
This is definitely something along what I was thinking when I responded. If I get a sec, I'll see if I can find any aditional aesthectic parts in the GECK that might work well with it. Looks bad ass though. I love the tires. Definitely gets some creative thinking going as to how this could be applied in-game.
Deleted4363562User
Maybe fill in the yellow on the robot head in the front, so it looks a little less like a butchered protectron. Hahaha, it jus tmade me think of the movie the "human centiped."
