Your mindset is so misguided and so common.

To use mods with physics, all you have to do is click download on the HDT-SMP (or CTPC) mod page, click install in your mod manager and everything immediately works. There are no further work needed whatsoever, you download mods that require 10 times more work on a daily basis. Your brain is using more energy to overthink this than what is actually needed to set up the whole thing.

 

But back to your question: this mod needs SMP otherwise the physics don't work.
