Sandatharius
I couldn't really find info that completely answered my questions about Profiles. I want to create a new profile for SSE that will be different from my present profile. I can create a new one that says I have zero mods installed. But when I look at the mods listing, they are all there from my original profile in an uninstalled state or disabled state.I want to start off with a totally blank SSE profile, and not interfere with my original one. But I don't want to go through and delete 75 mods individually. How do I get this new profile to a completely blank state? Do I Purge them? I've been using Vortex for a long time, but I have never bothered much with Profiles until now, so I am in completely unknown territory here. What's the best way to start with a totally blank profile for SSE?
Guest deleted34304850
if the profile contains no mods then it contains no mods. however the mods still exist in your system. all the profiles are created in their own subdirectories and whatever mods you install for that profile are "installed" by vortex when you switch to that profile or, if you switch from your new profile to an old profile vortex removes all the mods from your current profile then re-installs the mods from your old profile again. (its not physically removing anything, just recreating hardlinks to the files). to give this a try - create a new profile that contains no mods then switch to it, so it becomes your active profile then start the game.if there are no mods in that profile, you'll get a completely new game. make sure that you set each profile to save its own games so that you don't overwrite anything accidentally.
