nopulse
I'm reinstalling Oblivion and was wondering if I install Shivering Isles after, will it overwrite any mods for Oblivion? Or should I install Oblivion, then Shivering Isles and then apply mods? Also, do you have to complete Oblivion before you can go to Shivering Isles? I haven't played Shivering Isles and was wondering if I install it right after Oblivion if it interferes with the story. I'd like to complete Oblivion again before trying out Shivering Isles, and don't want my mods to get overwritten by Shivering Isles.

You can go to the Shivering Isles anytime after you've installed it, and it does not interfere with the Main Quest. Also, remember to install the correct patch so you don't get that nasty bug that I can't remember the name of... :glare:

xxXEvandarXxx
Yeah, the official patches. I looked at the UESP, and the bug was called the Reference bug, aka FormID bug.I don't know if the unofficial patches fixes this, as I don't use them. bben46
It's been a while since I have seen that one. I think it was fixed by the latest version of SI, or the latest Bethesda SI patch. Your best bet is to install Oblivion first. Don't worry about patches yet. Start the game and make a save - this sets some of the stuff in the ini. Then install SI and the latest SI patch. DO NOT install the Oblivion patch. The SI patch has all of the fixes needed, and if you do install both, you may get the 'Purple Ground' bug. Where the ground near your character turns into small purple maps of the Imperial City repeated endlessly. An interesting effect, but kind of distracting when you are trying to play.
