Charon glitch please help

So I found out Charon was recruitable but encountered a glitch when trying to recruit him. I know you have to talk to Ahzrukhal in order to get the dialogue to buy his contract or earn it by killing Greta. The thing is that Greta is already dead for some reason and this is why I'm encountering this issue. I guess her death happened around when I first visited Underworld because all of my saves after my first visit have her dead. I can tell she's dead because Carol has unique dialogue expressing her sadness. Last save before that is like 20 hours ago so I'm definitely not gonna be reloading.

 

I've tried resurrecting Greta and disabling and enabling her in the console but cant seem to be getting anything to work. Carol keeps the dialogue referencing Gretas death and Ahz still doesn't let me recruit Charon even after Greta seems to be resuming her path and activities. I've also tried killing/resurrecting and disabling/enabling both Carol and Ahzrukhal to no avail.

 

Wondering if there's any way to completely reset an npc to make it like they've never even talked to you as that would probably fix the issue. I cant find any way to do that on any forums so I'm creating my own topic as a final effort. Would be very grateful if someone was able to find a solution to this problem I'm having.

Okay so after doing a little digging I was able to find a solution myself.

 

So first I respawned Greta by teleporting her corpse to me (couldn't find it because it probably despawned) with "prid 0002b8de" then "moveto player" and finally "resurrect." This gets Greta back but does not fix the other issues.

 

Then I used the command "resetquest 000300ad" to reset the "Hiring Charon" quest which fixes Ahzrukhal and allows you to talk to him about Charon's contract. Problem fixed.

 

However, you can also use the command "resetquest 0002aa01" to fix Carol's dialogue so that she stops saying Greta is dead if you decide you don't want to kill Greta. Note that this command basically resets everyone in underworld and makes it so they introduce themselves again. After you talk to everyone in underworld once, everything should be back to normal, it even remembers the speech choices you've made and whether or not you've got the Crowley dialogue available. So in my experience there doesn't seem to be any issues that arise from doing this but you may want to proceed with caution.

 

Leaving this here just in case anyone else in the future ends up running into this problem because it was a pain in the ass to fix.

Hi,

 

after 2h of trying, I got Charon now as follower. In my situation Charon just dont wanted to shoot Ahzrukhal. So i killed Ahzrukhal with the console

 

prid 0002b8e2

kill

 

Charon is still freezed. I disabled Charon.

 

prid 0002b8e1

disable

 

I left the room and enabled Charon.

 

prid 0002b8e1

enable

 

And now he talked to me and is my follower. :)
