Triforce1
Seems I'm having some trouble. Awhile back, I got Assassin's Creed for the PC; great game, killed my computer. I did some updating of drivers and downgrading of the level I was playing the game, and it worked. You know, normal crashes, but if I can live with Oblivion and Fallout 3, I can live with these, right? Well, I had to do a complete wipe of the hard drive and start everything over from scratch on my Vista machine recently (I dual boot with XP), and so I installed the game again. I couldn't play for the longest time because of that damn nvlddmkm.sys driver error, but I discovered my fix and now I want to play it again. I noticed I had un-installed it, so I installed again. No problems. When I chose to play, the game automatically patched to 1.02, which was fine. I get the splash screen, but it now asks me to put in the appropriate CD-ROM. Well, it obviously is. I have un-installed and re-installed the game twice since then, but to no avail. I have updated all my drivers as of today, but my DVD drive (Pioneer DVR-212D ATA) was already at the current version. I have used every shortcut installed onto my desktop, My Games, and into the Ubisoft Programs folder itself. Clicking the application directly does nothing different, either. So, my question is this: How can I play the game!? Anyone with a similar problem please lend me a hand. Thanks. -Triforce1
TheTerminator2004
And this is why we all hate DRM. Complain to the publisher, I forget who exactly that is, and keep going on and on and on and on at them till they get it fixed. That, or just use a nocd patch, which is probably easier. Backup the original exe if you do though.
Triforce1
Fixed it. My virtual drive manager decided that it did not like the real world and was overriding my physical drive. I never use that thing anyway, so I just told it that I did not want any more virtual drives. Thanks anyway. -Triforce1
